Purpose of Role
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the smooth running of the kitchen by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring all areas are kept safe and organised.
Key Responsibilities
- To deliver excellent experiences to all guests whilst showing a passion for the highest level of customer service and satisfaction.
- Be confident in speaking with guests and the team.
- Assisting in stock control, including stock levels, rotation, and receiving deliveries.
- Preparing food orders, whilst maintaining food preparation H&S standards.
- Operating the ePoS taking orders and cashless payments.
- Assisting with Hospitality events.
- Co-ordinate with FOH & Bar during show days to ensure a smooth operation of the estate along with maintaining good working relationships.
- Housekeeping of public areas and back of house.
- Ensuring Health & Safety compliance in all front of house areas and adhering to regulations and theatre policies and procedures, ensuring you prioritise safety in every task.
- Be environmentally aware.
- Any other task that is reasonably requested of you to efficiently operate within a busy theatre.
Role Requirements
- Strong communication, teamworking and people skills.
- Embrace the excitement of working under pressure.
- Ability to use initiative and be a self-starter.
- Desire to learn new skills.
- Previous catering/hospitality experience, however training will be delivered.
- High level of attention to detail and excellent numeracy skills.
- Excellent organisational abilities.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Desirable)

Job Vacancy: Guest Experience Host
Reports to – Head of Guest Experience
Hours – Casual hours across 7 days a week including evenings and weekends.
Salary – £12.21 per hour
Purpose of role:
As a Guest Experience Host, you’ll be the welcoming face of Tyne Theatre & Opera House helping creating magical moments for every audience member.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a warm, friendly and professional welcome to all guests.
- Checking tickets, directing guests to seats and provide additional assistance as required.
- Support audience members with accessibility needs and ensure inclusivity
- Monitor the auditorium during performances, ensuring comfort and compliance.
- Prepare and serve refreshments, ice cream, confectionary and merchandise.
- Operate tills and handle cash/ card transactions accurately.
- Restock bars, café and kiosk points.
- Uphold hygiene standards.
- Provide quick and efficient service during busy pre-show and interval times.
- Promote and upsell Products to maximise revenue
- Assist with cellar upkeep, cleanliness and stock rotation.
- Maintain cleanliness of all public areas.
- Respond to guest enquiries and resolve issues promptly, escalating to the Duty Manager when necessary.
- Assist with crowd management and evacuation procedures .

Job Vacancy: Housekeeper
Reports to: Head of Guest Experience
Period of Appointment: Casual hours including evenings, weekends and occasional late finishes (based on event schedule)
Salary: £12.21 per hour
Purpose of Role:
To maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the Tyne Theatre & Opera House, ensuring a welcoming, safe and well presented environment for audiences, performers and staff alike.
Key responsibilities include:
Cleaning & Housekeeping
· Clean and maintain all public, backstage, and staff areas including:
· Clean Auditorium, foyer, bar areas, toilets, dressing rooms, and offices
· Carry out daily, weekly, and post-event cleaning routines
· Replenish consumables (e.g. toilet paper, soap, hand towels)
· Ensure all cleaning products are stored and used in line with COSHH regulations
Event Preparation & Turnover
· Prepare the venue before and after performances/events (e.g. clearing rubbish, cleaning floors/seats)
· Support fast turnaround between events when needed
· Work around technical crew and performers respectfully and safely
Safety & Compliance
· Report hazards, damages, or maintenance issues to the Duty Manager
· Ensure all fire exits, stairwells, and walkways are kept clean and clear
· Follow lone working and health & safety protocols
Teamwork & Communication
· Liaise with Front of House, Technical, and Bar staff to coordinate access and cleaning schedules
· Act professionally and courteously around visitors and staff
· Represent the theatre’s values of professionalism, care, and respect
Role Requirements
· Previous commercial cleaning experience (although training will be given)
· Awareness of health and safety COSHH standards
· Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
· Able to work independently and part of a team
· Attention to detail and pride in keeping spaces clean and tidy
· Physically fit and able to undertake manual tasks
· Polite and helpful manner
