We are looking for someone with experience in the implementation of a safety case framework or methodology, development of process and procedure and responsibility for development of safety cases. Experience in the management of regulatory compliance, in particular engaging with certifying authorities would be ideal.
About you
We are looking for a motivated individual with a dynamic approach to your work. You'll demonstrate a passion for Engineering and a commitment to saving lives at sea. To be considered, you should have:
- Experience in the ownership and development of safety case and the framework for the management of safety cases
- Experience managing senior stakeholders, including duty holders
- Formal training as a safety engineer or experience working as such
- Accredited engineering or safety management qualification (or equivalent)
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in the development of Safety Cases and management of design intent
Desirable:
- Engineering compliance experience, preferably in the Workboat Code or Irish Coastguard requirements and guidance
- Experience in the development of regulation
- Risk management training (IOSH or equivalent)
- Experience in designing or operating SAR vessels
- Experience in marine design and engineering environments
- Chartered or Fellow Engineer registration with the Engineering Council
- Significant experience working at Senior or Principal level in a related engineering discipline
- Experience in certification through class society or flag and development of codes, standards or regulations

Your role
As a Project Engineering Lead, you’ll be responsible for the successful engineering delivery of a broad range of technical projects - supporting the full asset lifecycle from concept through to disposal. You’ll lead technical input, manage engineering outputs, and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project outcomes are delivered safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the end-to-end engineering delivery of assigned projects, including design, integration, modification, and support.
- Act as the central technical contact, resolving complex engineering challenges while aligning activity with operational priorities.
- Collaborate across departments—Project Management, In-Service Support, Procurement, Estates, Construction/Refit—to ensure smooth project execution.
- Coordinate planning and risk management across engineering workstreams, ensuring timely delivery of all technical documentation and milestones.
- Monitor budgets, schedules, and compliance with SHE (Safety, Health, Environment), engineering governance, and quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, stakeholder feedback, and the development of improved tools and processes.
- Maintain up-to-date engineering knowledge and actively support your own professional development.
About you
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented engineer who can thrive in a complex and fast-paced environment. You’ll have a track record of managing engineering delivery across projects and teams - ensuring quality, efficiency, and technical excellence at every step.
Essential:
- Degree-level education (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Significant experience leading technical delivery within multidisciplinary or integrated teams.
- Strong background in project engineering and lifecycle management.
- Proven ability to assure quality and compliance against policies, standards, and processes.

Your Role
As a Facilities Manager, you will be tasked with focus on the following areas:
- Ensure RNLI Health and Safety policy and standards are fulfilled. Work safely, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of yourself, direct reports, colleagues, customers, contractors and visitors
- Manage a wide range of specialist Facilities services and contractors providing hard and soft services
- Manage a delegated budget of approx. £2m and assist the Senior Facilities Manager with preparing annual budget packages and completing monthly financial performance reports
- Manage technical Facilities projects, buildings, plant, and equipment alterations/refurbishments to meet the business's occupational demands.
- Fulfils the role of an Authorised/Appointed Person for critical safety areas such as Confined Spaces, Legionella, Electrical, etc.
- Manage the Facilities Coordinators and administration support function for the department.
- Provide proactive support to the Senior Facilities Manager in the delivery of facilities services, contributing to the effective operation and maintenance of the organisation’s infrastructure.
About You

Your Role
As a member of our People Leadership Team, our new Head of People Services will deliver a first-class, service led, ‘people through lifecycle’ service to the RNLI through a trusted, customer focussed, highly professional People Services team.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will be responsible for the line management of each of the “people through lifecycle” service managers, with teams including our People Partnering and Advisor service, Reward, Occupational Health and our HR Shared Service, which encompasses People Administration, Recruitment and HR MI. This is a key role for our People Department, and priorities will include developing our HR strategy and workforce management capability, as well as leading on departmental digital transformation, as we transition to a single HR platform.
As the Head of People Services we are looking for someone who can:

- CIPD membership, preferably at MCIPD level.

Your role
The role of Coastal Estates Manager plays an integral part in supporting our lifesaving service through the safe, efficient and effective management of this unique and diverse infrastructure. You will have significant responsibility for an operational portfolio of buildings including the requirement to accurately assess condition, specify and procure planned and emergency works, and monitor contractor performance against safety, quality and cost criteria.
About you
To be considered as the Coastal Estates Manager you will need extensive practical experience of managing building maintenance & construction works at a professional level, ideally in a maritime environment.
Educated to HNC level or equivalent in Building Construction or Civil Engineering or equivalent experience and desirably educated to degree level with membership of a professional body such as CIOB, RICS or ICE. You will possess commercial and financial acumen, excellent IT and communication skills and the ability to work effectively at both strategic and operational levels. This will be matched with a highly motivated, organised approach, a thorough understanding of current maintenance procedures and an embedded attitude towards Health and Safety practices and regulations.

The role
We’re building a dependable, modern data service so RNLI data users can trust the information they use to make decisions quickly and safely. As Lead Data Support Analyst, you’ll own the day-to-day run and operation function for our data estate. You’ll lead our L1/L2 Data Service Desk, set service standards and SLAs, and drive continuous improvement so outages reduce and recoveries are faster. You’ll steward major incident recovery for data services and turn lessons into robust runbooks, knowledge articles, and platform improvements—working closely with Engineering, Integration, BI, IT Service Management, and key suppliers.
You’ll oversee reliability and support for a modern stack that includes Power BI, Databricks, Azure Service Bus, SnapLogic, Gravitee, and observability tooling—ensuring monitoring and alerting are effective and common tasks are automated.
Working pattern
This is primarily an on-site role at our Support Centre in Poole (minimum three days a week) and shift-based. Shifts rotate between:
- 07:00 – 15:00
- 09:00 – 17:00
- 11:00 – 19:00
Due to the 24/7 nature of our lifesaving service, flexibility is essential. We’ll work with you to accommodate personal circumstances where possible.
What you’ll do
- Lead the L1/L2 Data Service Desk to meet or exceed agreed SLAs, ensuring disciplined incident, request, and problem management.
- Own and improve monitoring, alerting, and recovery procedures for Databricks jobs, Azure Service Bus queues/topics, SnapLogic pipelines, Gravitee gateways, and Power BI.
- Partner with Engineering, Integration, BI, Governance, Information Security, IT Service Management, and vendors to remove root causes and prevent recurrences.
- Drive automation of common tasks and improvements to observability tooling.
About you
You’re a practical service leader who enjoys solving operational data challenges and making things better every week. You’ll bring:
- Experience leading data or IT service desks, ideally with ITIL or similar frameworks.
- Strong understanding of incident, problem, and change management in complex environments.
- Hands-on knowledge of data platforms such as Power BI, Databricks, Azure Service Bus, SnapLogic, and API gateways.
- Ability to write clear documentation and communicate calmly under pressure.
- Familiarity with scripting or automation tools is a bonus.

The role
As Data Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in enabling our Data team to deliver even greater impact. You’ll manage our volunteer programme from onboarding through to activity coordination and recognition, and you’ll build strong partnerships with universities to deliver meaningful student projects. Acting as the central point of contact for stakeholders, you’ll ensure everything runs smoothly and safely. Your work will unlock extra capacity and expertise for our data and insight teams—helping us make better decisions for lifesaving and fundraising.

- Experience coordinating volunteers, projects, or programmes in a complex environment.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Confidence working with a range of stakeholders, from technical teams to external partners.

We’re looking for a Research Officer to join our Research Team, which is part of our Data Team. The Research Team supports the RNLI by delivering insight and recommendations, generated by robust and ethical research, to enable the RNLI to make sound evidence-based decisions.
This Research Officer role will work across the organisation, and will particularly support our colleagues in the Lifesaving, Fundraising, Marketing and Media and People Departments. Research projects will be varied and include conducting in-house surveys using our survey software tool (Qualtrics), desk research and commissioning and working with suppliers to deliver qualitative and quantitative research to help shape campaigns and future strategy. Research participants will include volunteers, staff, supporters and members of the public.

Your Role
As a Research Officer you will be tasked with the following:
- Scoping, undertaking and managing multiple and varied RNLI research projects, ensuring research evidence meets the requirements of the RNLI within the timescales agreed
- Building and maintaining successful working relationships with research customers and stakeholders at all levels
- Commissioning and working with external research suppliers to deliver high quality research, negotiating for best price and ensuring that objectives and deadlines are met
- Providing expert research advice to RNLI colleagues at all levels, and promoting the role of research in decision making
About You
You’ll be naturally inquisitive and proactive, with a sound understanding and demonstrable experience of conducting both quantitative and qualitative research. Perhaps already in a research team, or with research agency experience, you will be used to working on multiple research projects at a time for a range of customers, prioritising your own workload. You’ll be someone who builds effective working relationships with colleagues, customers and research agencies, and who can communicate research and insight findings and recommendations in engaging ways to senior audiences.
To be considered as the Research Officer you will need:
- Proven knowledge of and experience conducting quantitative research projects including survey design, data analysis etc
- Proven knowledge of and experience conducting qualitative research projects including depth interviews and focus group design and facilitation etc
- Experience of managing multiple projects for multiple customers/stakeholders.
- Good working knowledge and experience using Microsoft office software (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and proven experience of using survey software packages (Qualtrics preferred).

The role
As Data Support Analyst, you’ll be the first point of contact for data support at the RNLI. You’ll provide Line 1 and Line 2 production support across our data platforms, triaging incidents, restoring service quickly, and preventing repeat issues. Your work will keep our datasets, pipelines, APIs, and gateways healthy so colleagues and volunteers can rely on timely, trustworthy information.
Working pattern
This is primarily an on-site role at our Support Centre in Poole (minimum three days a week) and shift-based. Shifts rotate between:
- 07:00 – 15:00
- 09:00 – 17:00
- 11:00 – 19:00
Due to the 24/7 nature of our lifesaving service, support is sometimes required by our end-users outside core hours. We’ll work with you to accommodate personal circumstances where possible, but you should be able to commit to this schedule.
What you’ll do
- Own L1/L2 incident and request management for Power BI datasets, refreshes, gateways, and workspace access.
- Monitor Databricks jobs, Azure Service Bus queues, ETL pipelines, and Gravitee API gateways, taking action on alerts and following runbooks.
- Fix issues fast, update tickets and communications, and escalate to engineering or vendors when needed.
- Prevent recurrence by contributing to problem reviews, documenting known errors, and improving knowledge articles.
- Complete standard changes and access requests safely within SLAs.
- Produce simple weekly insights on trends, recurring failures, and time to restore, feeding improvements into backlogs.
About you
You’re calm under pressure, great at triage, and passionate about making complex platforms reliable. You’ll bring:
- Hands-on experience in L1/L2 support for data products
- Confidence using ticketing tools and service workflows (ITIL experience is a bonus).
- Practical knowledge of at least some of: Databricks, Azure Service Bus, SnapLogic, Gravitee, data observability tools, and basic SQL for triage.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with a focus on first-time fix and customer service.

We’re looking for a Senior Face to Face (F2F) Fundraising Manager to join our Face to Face Fundraising team. This is a fantastic opportunity within the RNLI to play a vital role in developing and growing the RNLI in-house F2F Fundraising team to reach the ambitious targets we have ahead. This role manages a team of F2F Managers who each lead a team of F2F fundraisers signing up regular supporters within a defined geographical area and raise vital long-term funding for the charity, as well as delivering lifesaving water safety messaging. The role is part of the F2F Senior Management Team, supporting the team’s development through leading projects that drive forwards team performance.
Your role
As a Senior F2F Fundraising Manager you will be tasked with focus on the following areas:
- Recruit, train and manage a geographically diverse group of direct reports. Develop and motivate direct reports to deliver key messages, campaigns and products within the F2F strategy.
- As a senior manager in the F2F fundraising team (200+ staff), continue to develop and maintain a positive high performing culture to ensure the team are performing at their best and developing. Drive continuous improvement across all KPIs.
- Construct and monitor financial and performance reports to ensure budget & KPIs are met, reforecasting where necessary.
- Develop a positive safety culture by identifying and managing risks to health and safety and safeguarding.
- Oversee compliance & complaints to ensure RNLI F2F fundraising adheres to best practice.
- Lead the delivery of selected team projects from initiation to completion, working with colleagues both within the F2F team and the wider organisation to provide the plans, processes and tools needed for the team to achieve their objectives. Develop solid relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders across the UK and Ireland.
About you
Leading a frontline team, you’ll have excellent communication skills and people management capabilities, with a proven track record of achieving fundraising targets. You will be a strategic thinker, with the ability to use your networks to ensure that plans are executed well and future opportunities are maximised to drive both the volume and value of new supporters.

Your role
The role of Senior Station Technician is focused for those individuals with an NVQ L4/SVQ L5 in an engineering discipline or time served engineering apprenticeship or sound background and experience in mechanical electrical or electronic engineering.

As a Senior Station Technician, most of your time will be utilised ensuring that the Shannon class and D Class lifeboats plus their associated equipment work to the highest order, ensuring that the Lifeboat Station is well managed, and assist training volunteer crew members - so that when an emergency shout does occur, you, your crew and your lifeboat will be absolutely prepared.

About the role
As Area Operations Manager, working alongside an Area Technical Manager you will provide leadership, direction and support to your teams in an active maritime operational environment, looking after both full time staff and volunteers.
Working as a part of the regional team you will be a credible people manager used to leading in an operational maritime environment. You will:

About you
The role of the RNLI Area Operations Manager is to provide support and management to our lifeboat stations within the region. Each of these stations is managed by a volunteer Lifeboat Operations Manager, with the majority of boat and shore crew being volunteers.
In addition to providing day to day support to your stations, you will be busy carrying out assurance activities at your stations throughout the year, in order to ensure that they are being run in a safe and legally compliant way.
You will be an experienced people manager and have experience in the marine environment. Although you will not be a formal part of the lifeboat crews, you will be expected to go afloat with your team, as you are ultimately accountable to the Regional Operations Lead for the operational effectiveness and safety of your station teams.
You will:
- Inspire, lead, support, coach and develop your team of staff and volunteers, promoting interpersonal relationships, in order to create an inclusive environment for all RNLI people.
- Actively manage and be responsible for the safe and effective delivery of the RNLI’s lifesaving services through all aspects of a defined assurance framework.

Your Role
As a Research Officer you will be tasked with the following:
- Scoping, undertaking and managing multiple and varied RNLI research projects, ensuring research evidence meets the requirements of the RNLI within the timescales agreed
- Building and maintaining successful working relationships with research customers and stakeholders at all levels
- Commissioning and working with external research suppliers to deliver high quality research, negotiating for best price and ensuring that objectives and deadlines are met

About You
You’ll be naturally inquisitive and proactive, with a sound understanding and demonstrable experience of conducting both quantitative and qualitative research. Your role
The Coxswain supports the full range of volunteer roles at the station both seagoing volunteers and others. This role contributes to the operational assurance of the lifeboat station by providing feedback and support to the local and regional operations teams. Much of your time will be divided between ensuring the Station, the ALB Tamar lifeboat and associated equipment are maintained ready for service, as well as training and assessing volunteer crew members to the RNLI’s competence standards.
You will need to have experience in the following areas:
- Experience of fulfilling all elements of an RNLI Coxswain role previously (or demonstrate the ability to develop your skills to the required level in the near future)
- Relevant maritime qualifications to complement your verifiable marine experience(e.g. RYA Yachtmaster)
- Demonstrable boat handling experience
- Sound working knowledge of navigation principles and IRPCS
- Knowledge and experience of the operation, maintenance and repair of marine diesel engines would be desirable, as would the ability and capacity to develop skills in this aspect of the role

Your role
The role of Senior Station Technician is focused for those individuals with an NVQ L4/SVQ L5 in an engineering discipline or time served engineering apprenticeship or sound background and experience in mechanical electrical or electronic engineering.
If these qualifications or experience are not held then suitable individuals may be offered a Station Technician role in lieu.
As a Senior Station Technician, most of your time will be utilised ensuring that the ALB Severn Lifeboat and there equipment work to the highest order, ensuring that the Lifeboat Station is well managed, and assist training volunteer crew members - so that when an emergency shout does occur, you, your crew and your lifeboat will be absolutely prepared.
You will not be the sole individual responsible for the lifeboat and its equipment. Our existing mechanic volunteers are there to support you, your training and maintenance activity. The wider lifeboat staff and volunteers will be there to welcome and support you in all other aspects of the role.
Your role will include:
- Inspiring and motivating your team; managing their progress by leading them on seagoing exercises, conducting shore-based training, identifying ways they can improve and imparting your valuable knowledge
- Meeting and talking to the general public about your station’s work
- Taking a lead on Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment issues, helping to develop a positive culture within the station
- Spending time in the day to day running of the Lifeboat Station; this may be in the form of answering e-mails, ensuring maintenance records are maintained or updating the station’s monthly assurance report.

Your role
This role will operate in the North and East region with the requirement to live within region.
This is a seagoing command role and will carry the pager. The primary function is to carry out duties at lifeboat stations in order to maintain operational availability. You will also be responsible for providing the required assurance to the Area Operations Manager that the crew, lifeboat and equipment are available at all times while on station. This role will require deployment to any station across the region you applied for and you will be expected to command lifeboats on passage and trials as and when required. At times, there may be an operational need for you to provide cover outside of your region. The Coxswain (Afloat Mechanic) will also need to train to the required level of competence to operate as an afloat mechanic.

Resilience and leadership skills are just as strong as an ability to handle a boat in adverse sea conditions, but that’s where we come in. The Training team will be well prepared to deliver a high intensity suit of courses, up to 20 weeks. Training will be based at the RNLI college in Poole and at our lifeboat stations, gaining the knowledge and skills to be at your peak while on the front end, leading your crew.
You will need to have, as a minimum, experience in the following areas:
- Crewing an ALB as Tier 2 Crew or operating as a trainee ILB Helm
- Operating in a high pressure environment
- Effectively communicating to a range of personalities and abilities
It is desirable that candidates would have:
- Professional experience making decisions under pressure
- Leading a team of people with diverse skill levels
Any maritime or management qualifications or experience a candidate can bring would be of benefit
You’ll have the ability to build effective relationships with volunteers at the lifeboat station, the supporters locally and RNLI staff beyond, while acting as an ambassador for the stations and the RNLI within the community.
Where required, the RNLI will also support you to achieve the required minimum sea-time for the RYA Yachtmaster certification and commercial endorsement, and put you through the exam when you are ready. You will work towards this during your training programme.

There will be a significant amount of travel and time away from home, working in the UK and ROI initially, with a transition into the region which you have applied for after your training and development programme is complete – so flexibility to travel will be key. Initial training will take place at the RNLI College in Poole, so please be prepared to spend the first seven weeks travelling to Poole for your training courses.

We are looking for a Seasonal Lifeguard Supervisor to cover operations from our Wirral Support Centre, covering operations across beaches in our Wirral & Denbighshire areas from 9th February 2026, for up to 8 months.
This post is operationally focused with some interesting challenges, including:
- Working with other Supervisors on the recruitment, training, supervision, welfare, and development of the lifeguard team.
- Ensuring the safe and effective delivery of the lifeguard service to the highest of standards.
- Manage and support lifeguard operations on demanding popular surf beaches, including responding to emergency situations.
- Contribute to the operational procedures, lifeguard service model and strategic planning.
You will need to be proficient and experienced at working, training, and supporting lifeguard teams and their operations in such conditions. In particular we are seeking a high level of lifeguarding and operational experience on busy surf beaches, RNLI vehicle and craft qualifications for this role.
You will possess a sound knowledge of the beach environment and sea based recreational activities along with extensive experience in the provision of RNLI lifeguard services. As an excellent communicator, you will have the ability to deal effectively with a broad range of people and situations.
It would be desirable to hold the National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification - Trainer Assessor.
In this role you will be required to work with other Supervisors to cover weekend and early/late shifts, ability to be flexible if required, and manage their time effectively.

Your role
The role involves the delivery of training, assessment and verification of lifeguard competencies throughout the lifeguarding season. Working collaboratively with other Lifeguard Assessor Trainers and colleagues across the organisation, you will help drive training quality and safety standards. This will include contributing to national working groups and acting as a subject matter expert in all areas of lifeguard training.
Using your leadership skills, you will inspire and develop lifeguards at all levels. You will have experience leading group-based training and the ability to develop, implement and work to structured training plans. Supported by your peer Lifeguard Assessor Trainers, you will ensure that Local Trainer Assessors are verified to the highest possible standard and that consistent, standardised training and assessment practices are embedded across the service.
You will be required to make effective, appropriate and compliant regional interventions to ensure the service operates safely. The role will also involve the development and delivery of high-quality training courses both regionally and nationally, working closely with Lifeguard Supervisors and Regional Lifeguard Leads.
About you
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of lifeguard procedures and operations.
You will have a clear passion for training and be a competent trainer. You will need to be confident presenting to both small groups and large audiences, with the ability to adapt your delivery style to suit different learners.
An externally recognised training, teaching, assessing or verifying qualification would be advantageous. Experience in programme development, and the production of training materials is also desirable.
Additional information
This is a home-based role requiring extensive travel throughout the UK and Ireland. You will work remotely across multiple teams and often under your own initiative. While maintaining your own professional competence, you will also develop a range of new qualifications to support your role.
You must hold a current ILS Lifeguard Qualification and a full driving licence. Strong time management skills, attention to detail and an innovative approach to continuous improvement are essential.
Due to the nature of the role, you must be comfortable with frequent travel, lone working and independent problem-solving. A commercial vehicle will be provided, and due to current service requirements, candidates must reside in the South of England with a focus on the South East Region.
