Shelter Project Manager, Generic

Role Overview
Plan, develop, monitor and evaluate the assigned shelter project(s), assessing shelter needs, designing projects, writing proposals, initiating and effectively managing and reporting on the projects in line with the objectives, timeframe and budget. Provide technical support, leadership and strategic direction; meet quality standards in shelter delivery, encourage beneficiary participation, liaise with other stakeholders and manage and train shelter staff.
Key Activity Areas
Shelter Project Management
- Manage the assigned shelter project(s) in order to meet the project objectives within budget and within the allotted time frame.
- Provide strong leadership of the assigned shelter project(s), working to ensure both short and long-term positive impacts and outcomes for the beneficiaries, local authorities (where applicable) and local shelter staff.
- Develop and implement an appropriate and effective shelter strategy in consultation with other shelter staff and field managers.
- Set clear objectives and indicators for shelter activities in collaboration with the shelter staff, field managers and, where appropriate, with the local communities.
- Continuously monitor and supervise shelter activities, overseeing the technical design and execution and evaluating progress through outputs and impacts using both quantitative and qualitative data.
- Input into the integration of beneficiary participation and accountability in all aspects of the project.
Staff Management
- Line-manage the Shelter Manager(s) of the assigned project(s), including day-to-day management, development and training, appraisals, etc.
- Facilitate regular meetings to assist information sharing between project staff, to ensure staff members are aware of project objectives and current work plans and to provide the opportunity for feedback.
- Provide coaching and technical supervision to staff in order to develop ownership and full responsibility for shelter activities.
Financial Management
- Manage the shelter budget for the assigned project(s) and ensure all expenses are according to budget and meet the Medair standards with regard to financial management, including accountability and good governance.
Communication and Coordination
- Develop and maintain appropriate, regular, transparent and supportive communication structures with the assigned shelter team, Medair in-country and HQ shelter managers and advisers and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. beneficiaries, community leaders, local and national government officials, UN agencies and other NGOs), with the objective of ensuring good cooperation and partnerships.
- Participate in shelter coordination meetings and other working groups or meetings as required, representing Medair and feeding back to the shelter staff and field managers on relevant issues.
Qualifications
- Higher level qualification in a technical field, preferably in civil engineering or in another relevant field such as architecture / engineering / construction management; BSc / BEng in a relevant field desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of English, spoken and written.
Experience
- 2 years post-qualification professional experience in a relevant field.
- Management exper. in a construction context; technical construction skills within humanitarian setting.
- Experience working in a construction / shelter programme in a developing country, preferably in a humanitarian context desirable.
- Good numerical, report writing and administration skills.
- Experience in training / mentoring / coaching staff.
- Advanced planning, assessment and analytical skills desirable.
- Knowledge and understanding of humanitarian standards such as Sphere and HAP.
- Able to cope with basic living conditions in the field and during field trips.

Health Project Manager, Generic

Role Overview
Manage the health project in line with the objectives, timeframe and budget laid down in the current proposal and meet Medair quality standards and the BPHS. To ensure that beneficiary participation is enhanced in all phases of the project. To manage and train the PHC team and locally recruited health staff. To anticipate, plan, and share in the development of new health project proposals.
Key Activity Areas
Technical / Management
- Develop and manage a comprehensive activity plan covering the time frame of the project proposal.
- Ensure the quality and sustainability of the project outputs.
- Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation assessments against project objectives.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities (monthly, quarterly and final reports).
- Support the Programme Coordinator and CD in the development of new proposals.
- Support the health sector by the improvement and further design of the technical sector on approved and appropriate health practices.
Logistics and Administration
- To coordinate with the logistics department and ensure all health project related equipment is available on site in a timely fashion.
- To coordinate with the administration department to ensure accurate accounting of project finances as well as effective cash-flow.
- To ensure that health project stocks are managed, transported and maintained correctly.
Staff Management
- Oversee all staff based in the health project including recruitment,appraisal, management, general well-being, job descriptions, work schedules, discipline etc. in coordination with the Projects Coordinator.
- Provide training to all National staff in the health sector (within budget and operational constraints) so as to ensure ownership and full local responsibility of all health activities.
- To facilitate regular project meetings to assist information sharing between project staff and to ensure that all staff members are well aware of project objectives and current work plan.
Communications and Public Relations
- To maintain a transparent, honest and supportive communication structure within the Medair team.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local authorities, churches and NGO’s on site, with the objective of raising public awareness of Medair and ensuring good co-operation and partnerships.
- Contribute to Medair’s private fundraising and public awareness campaigns by supplying the FCO or the International HQ Marketing team with beneficiary stories and photos, as well as project updates etc.
Security Management
- To be responsible for the safety and security of Medair health assets and personnel on site of operations.
- To adhere to the security guidelines employed by Medair on site.
Quality Management
- To promote and use the e-library, ensuring the standardised formats are used and guidelines followed.
- Ensure health projects are implemented in accordance with Medair, donor, field, and international standards.
Qualifications
- Higher level qualification in a technical field; BSc/MSc in Management desirable.
- Medical doctor or senior nurse with public health or tropical health qualification desirable.
Experience
- 2 years minimum experience post qualification.
- 1 yr overseas experience in relief work with an NGO, having worked preferably in the health sector desirable.
- Able to prioritise clearly; able to enforce procedures; able to oversee multiple tasks.
- Good interpersonal skills; clear communicator.
- Good negotiation skills, especially in the context of another culture.
- Advanced planning, assessment and analytical skills desirable.

CRM Fundraising Administrator

Role Summary
The CRM Fundraising Administrator supports Medair’s donor and donation management by following fundraising campaigns and philanthropy relationships across Medair’s global donor networks, processing and reconciling gifts, maintaining accurate records, and delivering detailed reporting in collaboration with the Engagement and Finance teams. They sustain and strengthen relationships with Swiss and global donors by providing timely customer service, fostering loyalty, and building trust.
Project Overview
Medair’s Global Support Office (GSO) provides operational guidance for country programmes and supports relief workers worldwide. We promote Medair’s work globally to raise and manage funds and recruit staff for international and GSO roles. The Engagement department builds awareness, engages supporters, and communicates the impact of our humanitarian work. Our goal is to secure funding to sustain life-saving programmes.

Responsibilities
• Lead the process and validate online/offline donations in Salesforce, ensuring timely, compliant and accurate matching (through automated and exception management).
• Manage recurring gifts, exceptions, donor comments, and online platforms, supporting fundraising campaigns and communications. Preparing welcome packs & thank you communications to donors.
• Collaborate with Finance, Affiliate fundraising teams, and International Programmes on reconciliation, reporting, and audit readiness.
• Generate and review reports/dashboards to provide transparent global revenue visibility for programme and project decision-making.

WASH Manager

Role Summary
The WASH Manager manages the WASH and Infrastructure project in accordance with the objectives, budget and timeline set out in the proposal. He provides technical expertise and supervises the activities of the WASH Supervisors.
Program Overview
Medair has been working in Madagascar since 2002 and is currently carrying out multi-sectoral emergency projects in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Health and Nutrition, Shelter and Disaster Risk Reduction in Madagascar to meet the needs of vulnerable communities, mostly in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
Place and working conditions
Position based in Beloha but with numerous and frequent field missions of several days or even weeks, and likely to be relocated closer to our future places of intervention.
40 hours of weekly work spread over 5 working days.
Main responsibilities (non-exhaustive)
- Be responsible for the implementation, management, supervision and support of assigned WASH projects in accordance with the activity plan and timeline of relevant project proposals and applicable national and international guidelines and standards.
- Manage the quality construction of all WASH structures and infrastructure, ensure proper maintenance and implement sustainable processes.
- Ensure that regular monitoring and evaluation evaluations are conducted both in line with the objectives of the project and to ensure the quality of the programme, with reports to the relevant field managers.
- Coordinate and oversee the WASH team's large payment needs, ensuring that all required paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
- Implement, to the extent possible, within operational constraints, relevant policies and standards related to the delivery of WASH services, including national and international standards, donor guidelines and other good practices.
Essential qualifications, experience and technical skills
- Essential Qualification: Bachelor's/Master’s degree in engineering or water/environmental management, Civil Engineering, Hydrology or Geology.
- Essential language skills: fluency in French (oral and written), good level of English (oral and written).
- Essential experience: minimum 2 years of post-graduation work experience, in a relevant field, with experience in project and team management in a WASH context.
- Experience in a WASH programme in a developing country, preferably in a humanitarian context.
- Desired: Experience with Solstice, ODK or similar software, as well as the use of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software.
Desired qualifications, experience and technical skills
- Good written and oral communication.
- Knowledge of technical vocabulary in order to allow for in-depth discussion of issues related to the work.
- Able to understand a technical diagram relating to construction work.
- Able to analyse a given problem and find solutions.
- Comfortable in negotiating with suppliers, beneficiaries and authorities.
- Experience in writing accurate reports.
