Hours: 22.5 hours per week (three days a week, which will include working weekends and some bank holidays)
What is the role?
We’re looking for someone proactive, customer-focused, and community-minded to help drive sales, engage our volunteers, and support the day-to-day running of the shop. This is more than just a retail job – it’s a chance to make a real difference locally.
As Assistant Shop Manager, you will:
- Support the shop manager in achieving sales targets and delivering a fantastic customer experience
- Help coordinate a team of dedicated volunteers
- Ensure attractive stock displays and merchandising to maximise sales
- Promote Gift Aid donations and manage donations effectively
- Contribute to the development of new promotions and other improvements to retail practice
- Take full responsibility in the Shop Manager’s absence (including occasional full-time cover)
You will need to hold a full driving licence and be flexible to cover other shops in our catchment area when needed.

Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine
Are you looking to develop your career in specialist palliative care within a supportive, patient-centred environment? At Prospect Hospice, we’re offering an exceptional opportunity for a Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine to join our friendly and multidisciplinary team.
Rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, Prospect Hospice is the leading provider of specialist end-of-life care across Swindon, northeast Wiltshire, and parts of Gloucestershire. Our purpose-built hospice in Wroughton, just outside Swindon, provides inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services to over 300,000 people.
Hours: 1 clinical day per week (mostly community), plus non-resident on-call for our in-patient unit (IPU) and community (1 OOH evening & night /week) and 1 in 4 weekends based on IPU
What is the role?
You will provide expert palliative medical care to patients on our 6-bed Inpatient Unit (IPU), working closely with a dedicated multidisciplinary team including specialist nurses, therapists, family support workers, and psychotherapists.
Your role will include:
- One clinical day per week, usually in the community working with our Clinical Nurse Specialists (2 pa’s)
- Participation in the non-resident out-of-hours rota:
- One overnight per week (17:00–09:00)
- One weekend in four (IPU ward round and potential admissions; remote cover overnight). The hospice consultant or Supportive Care UK consultants provide second on-call cover.
- Opportunities to contribute to clinical governance, education, audit, and quality improvement
The medical team consists of a Hospice Consultant, Specialty Doctors, GP trainees and an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Remote support is also provided by Supportive Care UK.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced doctor who is committed to delivering high-quality, holistic care at the end of life. The post would be suitable for those who wish to gain experience and skills in specialist palliative medicine or consolidate/expand on knowledge and skills they already have.

Essential Criteria:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Minimum 4 years’ postgraduate training (at least 2 years in relevant specialties)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- A genuine interest in or experience of palliative medicine
Desirable:
- Previous experience in hospice or specialist palliative care setting
- Interest in teaching, service development or audit/QI

You must live within 45 minutes of Prospect Hospice when on-call.

Senior Community & Events Manager
At Prospect Hospice, our fundraising team is at the heart of everything we do. The income we generate enables us to provide expert, compassionate end-of-life care to people across Swindon, Marlborough and northeast Wiltshire — every day of the year.
We are now looking for a Senior Community & Events Manager to take our thriving community and events programme to the next level.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Flexible working options available, minimum 3 days per week in the office)
What you’ll be doing
This is a senior, high-impact fundraising role with real scope. You’ll lead a talented and creative team, oversee our flagship events, grow community fundraising, and play a key part in shaping the future of relationship fundraising at Prospect Hospice. Collectively, this team generates around £1.1m each year — and there’s plenty of ambition to grow further.
As our Senior Community & Events Manager, you’ll be:
- Leading the strategy, delivery and growth of all community fundraising and events
- Owning budgets, forecasting and performance reporting, ensuring strong ROI
- Delivering high-quality, supporter-centred flagship events such as Starlight Walk, Men’s Walk, Light Up A Life and more
- Expanding community fundraising across groups, schools, workplaces and associations
- Overseeing challenge events and third-party fundraising activity
- Acting as a senior ambassador for the hospice internally and externally
- Line-managing, motivating and developing a passionate fundraising team
- Deputising for the Head of Relationship Fundraising and contributing to wider strategic planning
Occasional evenings and weekends will be required to support events throughout the year.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll be an experienced fundraising manager with a strong track record in community and/or events fundraising. You’re strategic, commercially minded (without losing sight of people), and confident working at senior level.
You’ll bring:
- Significant experience delivering successful community and/or events fundraising programmes
- Proven leadership and people management skills
- Strong financial acumen — budgets, forecasting and analysis
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Creativity, resilience and a passion for supporter experience
- A commitment to inclusive practice and our ASPIRE values
A full UK driving licence is essential, and experience innovating or developing new fundraising products is a real plus.
