SUMMARY
The Christian Science Plaza is a treasured destination for Church members, neighbors, local college students, and visiting tourists. The aim of the Plaza Activities Department (PA) is to offer each guest a thought-changing experience that inspires hope through the “How Do You See the World?” exhibits, tours, programs, research and reference services, signage, marketing activities, web content, and events.
This position is hospitality-focused and necessitates the incumbent being a warm and inclusive host to the group of guests. This position handles the coordination of group tour development, booking, and scheduling for the Plaza, which includes the “How Do You See the World?” exhibits and tours of The Mother Church. This position works with teams, from the inception of an event or initiative to the surveying and reporting of each effort. The incumbent is a member of the Operations and Communications (OpsCom) scrum team and a subject matter expert on Visitor Experience, “How Do You See the World?” exhibits, and Youth/Community/Group engagement. This role is a key collaborator with the PA management team (PAMT) and works directly with Plaza staff to facilitate and execute successful group visitation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, Operations & Communications, this position’s primary responsibilities are to facilitate Plaza group tour coordination before, during, and after their visit, for and arrange successful group tours and visitor experiences to the Plaza, and to complete other operations, communications projects, and activities as required. The Group Tour Coordinator handles group sales and service, including the maintenance of the database reservation system(s), and is fully versed in the point of sales system(s). The Group Tour Coordinator is in charge of conducting group tours, and when there are multiple groups at a time, other Plaza staff will be assigned to support.
This position makes certain that each group has an optimal experience on the Plaza, from first contact to completion of their visit. The incumbent must be warm, flexible, full of grace and love in their communications, and patient with others and in a diverse range of situations. The incumbent coordinates responding to incoming calls and emails while providing expert customer service. The individual makes group bookings, services existing groups, as well as prepares and distributes group confirmations. The individual ensures that all group information is communicated to visitors as well as colleagues within the organization.
During a group visit, this person works closely with PA’s Hospitality Team to make sure all Group Shepherd and Group Guide positions are filled, is responsible for Group Shepherd and Group Guide training, as well as documenting, auditing, and updating procedures. The incumbent is responsible for communicating in advance with hospitality staff to make sure they are informed of all group details and ready to serve the guests with excellence. The incumbent will strive to always give adequate notification to the hospitality staff, typically at least a week in advance, but this is dependent on the group and their specific needs. The incumbent will, in most cases, work alongside PA staff and will role model customer service and strong group communication and leadership.
This person maintains an efficient and effective reservation system for Plaza tours and visits, and pre-registration for programs. The incumbent works closely with other team members to provide a positive experience for visitors; collaborates to create new tour/exhibit experiences; and increases tour attendance through outreach, building and maintaining partnerships, and contributing to Plaza marketing efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Committee and Field Support Manager and Editorial Activities Manager, the Corrective Activities Administrative Assistant will actively work with both the Committee and Field Support (generally 50%) and Editorial Activities (generally 50%) teams to perform administrative and other support tasks, including:
- Praying specifically for healing of impositions and in support of essential activities in which the office and Committees in the field are engaged;
- Coordinating translation and interpreting needs for staff with the Office of Language Services or other services;

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processes U.S. and global payrolls for the entire organization
- Maintains employee master files (electronic and paper), including updating payroll records, and reviewing payroll changes.
- Sets up new U.S. and global employee payroll files, researching U.S. state and local or national regulations for compliance, in collaboration with HR and OGC.
- Processes and audits bi-weekly multistate payroll, as well as monthly global employee payrolls including time and attendance, direct deposits, etc. Manages all other types of pay requests (manual checks, honorariums, translation pay, etc.) from other departments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Sets up and maintains special (garnishments etc.) and regular withholding (taxes, etc.) and other deductions including applicable benefit deductions.

- Performs quarterly and annual state tax filings as required; provides payroll-related reporting.

The responsibilities of an Associate Librarian in The Mother Church Reading Room go well beyond the role of a traditional librarian. Church founder Mary Baker Eddy took great care in the selection of The Mother Church Reading Room Librarian. She describes the ideal candidate in the Church Manual: “He or she shall have no bad habits, shall have had experience in the Field, shall be well educated, and a devout Christian Scientist” (Man. 63). Mrs. Eddy also describes the rule of conduct for any room where the Christian Science textbook is sold: “No idle gossip, no slander, no mischief-making, no evil speaking shall be allowed” (Man. 81). The Librarian and all Associate Librarians are held to this standard of conduct. In support of this healing activity, the Associate Librarian prays for the mission and activity of The Mother Church Reading Room.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The work primarily consists of three parts:
- This position contributes to the healing atmosphere in the Reading Room.
- Performs metaphysical watches for the Reading Room and its community while on shift.
- Is able to quickly assess situations and respond with prayer and practical steps to bring solutions that support resolution.
- Works in tandem with their shift partner to uphold the standards for Reading Room Librarianship—as outlined in the “Librarian” and “Rule of Conduct” by-laws in the Church Manual—thereby blessing our community with a unified and impersonal Librarian experience.
- This position performs the practical aspects of the Reading Room work in an efficient, harmonious, and uplifted manner.
- Masters the detailed daily procedures of opening and closing the Reading Room, including counting cash, running reports, preparing for visitors, and communicating with our prayer committee.
- Keeps the Reading Room tidy, welcoming, and accessible for all visitors.
- Hosts and coordinates events in the Reading Room, including doing the technical setup and facilitating discussions.
- Learns new technologies/procedures as the Reading Room continues to evolve.
- Contributes to daily reports when on shift.
- This position is responsible for sales and visitor service/satisfaction in The Mother Church Reading Room.
- Maintains an expert knowledge of the products that are published or sold by the Christian Science Publishing Society and recommends them to meet specific needs a visitor may have.

Working with the Church Activities Manager and the Church Activities Team, this position is the team lead for the department’s CSO support. This position also coordinates the two summer internship programs, partnering with departments across the organization to create meaningful and educational internship opportunities for high school and college students.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans and implements strategy for CSO support (45%)
- Serves as team lead for the CSO support team, including international Regional Reps
- Oversees the expansion of our College Network campaign which expands our ability to locate CS students and professors on campuses around the world
- Manages sections of the Salesforce database
- Assesses and strengthens current CSO resources, including regularly updating the CSO pages on ChristianScience.com
- Communicates with CSOs to support them in their outreach work, including direct outreach and email newsletters

The Government Relations Associate (UKI) supports the Government Relations work undertaken at the District Manager’s Office. Under the supervision of the Government Relations Counsel (UKI), the incumbent will:
- Ensure the work of Parliamentary Monitors (PMs) is carried out to ensure that a space in law is preserved for the practice of Christian Science, including Christian Science nursing, within the seven UKI governing jurisdictions. This may include:

The Analytics Lead delivers these insights and recommendations by creating analytical work products, evaluating the outputs of these products, and communicating recommendations to client, product and editorial stakeholders in an actionable way.
This position is part of the Promotion & Design Services Group [P&DSG]. The P&DSG is a service-based department that shapes, shepherds, and supports the promotion and extension of products, services and events that constitute the resources of the Christian Science Publishing Society and The First Church of Christ, Scientist.
The digital promotions group provides client departments with strategic, tactical, and analytical services that enhance the customer experience and increase product usage, engagement, and subscriptions as part of the P&DSG center of excellence. The digital promotions center of excellence includes but is not limited to the principles and guidelines for the following: data management, email programs, promotion efforts, and promotion strategy. P&DSG helps clients to meet the customer’s needs through promotion of its content, digital products, and/ or services. Providing promotional expertise and leadership helps enhance the customer experience as the first step in removing barriers to discoverability, access, and engagement. The Analytics Lead is responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust tech infrastructure for understanding and analyzing the effectiveness of the Church's communication with members and customers. This position will communicate strategy and insights to clients, peers, and leadership in an actionable way.
A portion of the Analytics Lead's time is spent creating an analytics framework to evaluate and communicate the effectiveness of the activities and communications of the Church with members and customers. It will require the candidate to be both technical to be able to gather data from disparate sources, consolidate and clean data for effective analysis, and build the visual output of the analytics dataset for easy consumption by clients.

The Senior Writer and Editor is a member of the Editorial Activities team in the Office of Committee on Publication. This team’s work is motivated and animated by the Church Manual Article XXXIII: “...to correct in a Christian manner impositions on the public in regard to Christian Science, injustices done Mrs. Eddy and members of this church….” As an integral part of a church office whose purpose is to lift and heal public thought, and to give humanity the opportunity to see Christian Science in its true light, the Senior Writer and Editor reports to the Editorial Activities Manager and works closely with other members of the Editorial Activities team. The senior Writer and Editor provides particular support to the Editorial Activities Manager. The work includes a daily commitment to the Christian Science healing practice, to seeing each occasion as a healing opportunity, and to approaching every aspect of the work “in a Christian manner.” The practical work includes but is not limited to writing and editing corrective responses for the media and academia, answering inquiries from the general public and church members, researching needed topics, working closely with Committees on Publication in various jurisdictions on corrective cases, and working to correct misinformation that appears on websites and in social media. This work may also include assisting with various short- and long-term projects, as well as direct contact with the public, including communication with media, giving talks to public groups, and meeting with scholars, authors, and students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Editorial Activities Manager, the Senior Writer and Editor will be responsible for assisting in many areas of the Committee work:
- Gaining an understanding of the landscape or atmosphere of public thought as the context in which impositions on the public regarding Christian Science are addressed and healed;
- Praying specifically for healing of impositions and in support of essential activities in which the office and Committees in the field are engaged;
- Actively engaging with Committees on Publication in researching, writing, and/or editing corrective responses;
- Drafting content that provides information and guidance to Committees on Publication worldwide;
- Writing and/or editing corrective responses to Christian Science references in the media, academia, clergy, letters, books, etc., as well as responding to other outside correspondence and inquiries;
- Direct contact with the public, including communication with media, and — on occasion — giving talks to public groups, and meeting with scholars, authors, and students;
- Attending daily, weekly, and monthly staff meetings essential to advancing the corrective work of the office; this may include final preparation of an extensive document that is discussed during weekly corrective meetings;
- Contributing to the planning and facilitation of meetings with Committees on Publication;
- Leading the preparation, writing, and editing of regular Trends in Thoughtbulletins;
- Leading a team focused on correcting impositions on the public in regard to Christian Science presented on Wikipedia and other online encyclopedias;
- Responding to questions, drafting content, and helping to clarify issues in websites and social media pertaining to Christian Science;
- Contributing to the Manager’s Office seasonal newsletters and other materials;
- Assisting with other projects as assigned.

In 1906, Mary Baker Eddy charged the members of the Christian Science Board of Directors (CSBD) with “...help[ing] the Lecturers in whatever way they can” (Accession: L00512). Today, the Manager of the Board of Lectureship [BoL] is largely responsible for helping the CSBD fulfill this charge. The Executive Assistant to the Manager of the BoL, in turn, supports the implementation of the CSBD’s vision for how to best fulfill the requirements related to lecturing found in the Church Manual and Mary Baker Eddy’s other writings.
The Executive Assistant manages the administrative activities of the BoL office ensuring the smooth and timely execution of programs and projects requested by the BoL Manager; is a key support staff for the global BoL; a primary contact for branch churches with questions about lecturing; and an essential member of the BoL prayer team.

- Maintains a broad-based understanding of each area and activity of the BoL in order to provide hands-on a support whenever and wherever it is needed.
- Specific responsibilities for this position include:
- Supports the annual lecturer election cycle, including preparation of materials presented to the CSBD, presentation of information and materials at Meet the Lecturers on christianscience.com, and notification of election to lecturers.
- Organizes lecturer training sessions and BoL conferences as requested, including the arrangement of hotels, food, airfare, and ground transportation.
- Constructs custom data reports and provides analysis that is integral to department strategy, planning and operations. Maintains spreadsheet data of historical importance to the BoL office.
- Supports lecturers through individual and group communications.
- Coordinates tools and resources that inform the lecturers and allow them to focus less on logistics and more on their healing message.
- Processes the BoL Salesforce online lecture application forms as needed, providing data to lecture notices and lecturer profile pages at christianscience.com. Department contact for upgrades to the Salesforce database.
- Tracks lecture review team payments and assignments and submits expense reports and makes payment requests as needed for the BoL manager and lecturers.
- Sends completed lecture manuscripts to the Clerk and obtains testimony verifications for lecture manuscripts.
- Maintains BoL office and lecture files including archiving paper and electronic files.
- Handles staff communications, and communicates any BoL updates to the Customer Contact area.
