About this role…
We are looking for a Senior Practitioner to join the Southwark Works Team.
Prevention services support vulnerable people by providing them with skills, housing advice, accommodation, and tenancy sustainment support. All these services to help people transition towards leading independent lives.
We will not accept applications where Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been used to assist with completing the competency questions.
You will:
- Manage a team of Employment Support Workers, providing regular supervision and leadership on a day-to-day basis
- Compile and submit performance reports, carry out regular project evaluations, analysing data and presenting reports
- Provide person-centred and high-quality support to people in Southwark who are unemployed, supporting them to find work
- Manage an active caseload of clients, providing employment coaching support to help people achieve their employment goals
- Develop and maintain strong working partnerships with other managers and departments within the company, and with external organisations such as Southwark Council, Jobcentre Plus, GP practices, employment services, training providers, and community organisations
- Keep up to date with local and national labour market trends, education/training opportunities, welfare benefit changes, and employment law in relation to people with mental health conditions
You will have:
- Knowledge and experience of providing support to people to find employment
- Experience of leading a high-performing team
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and develop relationships with employers and other stakeholders
- Strong IT and administration skills, the ability to manage a caseload, record evidence and interpret data
- Effective time management skills to manage competing demands
- Experience in working creatively and problem solving to tackle obstacles

The role
This is an opportunity to gain a wide range of experience within the homeless sector, ranging from support work in hostels, supported housing, community support or day services, to assisting in the practical running of services, including cleaning and catering. Thames Reach welcomes applications from people with transferable skills
You may be asked to work across a variety of projects within Thames Reach, potentially to assist vulnerable people towards further independence; whether that be in obtaining employment, finding a home, or accessing the services they need, or in the practical day to day running of our services.
The hours and frequency of your work will vary. This is in response to the needs of our service users, the development of our services and changes in staffing. This position could therefore be ideal for you if you wish to work flexibly or if you have other commitments and want to have your work fit around these.
To be successful as a Sessional Support Worker you will:
• Work with Lead Managers and Senior Practitioners to ensure that casework in the team is effectively delivered
• Contribute to the improvement of service effectiveness, ensuring that service users or internal customers receive a high-quality outcome-focused service
• Work in various locations to ensure Thames Reach's obligations to service-users are fulfilled

About this role…
We are looking for a Lead Worker to join the City Outreach Team.
The Thames Reach Outreach teams operate across London and help those who are rough sleeping to find routes away from the street. The teams respond rapidly and work flexibly to reach people. Individuals are assessed to identify their support needs and support plans are created, including work to obtain identification, access health services and refer to other specialist agencies, including those offering immigration support.

You will:
- Work with the Senior Practitioner and Lead Manager to ensure that support provided to people sleeping in encampments is effective and assertive.
- Lead regular outreach shifts, assessing new clients and quickly building trusting relationships.
- Manage a caseload of rough sleepers, identifying the quickest and most appropriate route off the street, and devising a plan to achieve this.
- Risk assess clients dynamically and participate in risk mitigations and safeguarding work, particularly within encampment settings.
- Use a variety of databases and virtual tools to accurately record and map tents and rough sleeping hotspots and encampments to ensure our support is targeted and effective.
- Represent the team at multi-agency meetings and case conferences, leading on work around tents and encampments with police and community safety colleagues.
You will:
- Be confident and professional representing the team and advocating for clients in multi-agency meetings with other services that may hold different priorities and ways of working.
- Have excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills, proven within a context of working with vulnerable adults.
- Have strong time management and prioritisation skills, and the ability to deploy these independently.
- Have experience and knowledge of support strategies to manage a caseload alongside the liaison functions of the role.
- Have a creative response to rough sleeping and be able to work imaginatively with clients to plan their end to street homelessness.
- Have the desire to work in a busy team and collaborate with colleagues to achieve quick but sustainable outcomes for our clients.

We are looking for a Lead Manager to join the Individual Placement Support Team.

You will:
- Lead the operational delivery of an integrated IPS service, ensuring programme outcomes and contractual targets are met or exceeded.
- Manage and support delivery teams, promoting effective integration and joint working with NHS and clinical partners.
- Promote the role of employment within clinical teams, raising expectations around clients’ ability to achieve paid work.
- Ensure services achieve and maintain good fidelity to the evidence-based IPS model, including preparation for service reviews.
- Use performance data, service feedback, and evaluation to identify gaps, drive service improvements, and support future growth.
- Oversee the collection, quality assurance, and submission of accurate service data to funders and stakeholders.
You will have:
- Experience delivering employment support services, including managing contracts, performance, and people to achieve KPIs and outcomes.
- A good understanding of the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, including its practical application, fidelity standards, and review processes.
- Experience in a leadership or management role, with responsibility for line management, supervision, and staff development.
- Experience in leading and motivating teams supporting people with complex needs.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including working with commissioners, partners, and funders.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and reporting skills, with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
