This role is responsible for the provision of a high quality, evidence based and specialist programme of psychological assessment and support for people dealing with cancer.
You will contribute professional expertise to the Maggie’s MDT and integrated programme of cancer support for people living with the impact of cancer, aligned with the Clinical and Counselling Psychology Role Expectation Guidelines.
You will contribute to the Maggie’s organisational programme of psychosocial research and work closely with the Centre Head to develop and promote the programme of support.

Key responsibilities
- Responsible for psychological leadership and the governance of psychological thinking, recording and activity undertaken within the centre team.
- Provide specialist psychological assessment and intervention for people living with the impact of cancer by utilising a range of psychotherapeutic formats for support including individual, couples, family, group work, support groups and networking groups, and other mechanisms including psycho-educational formats such as workshops and lectures.
- Utilise theoretical and evidence based practice in relation to programme provision
- Record and report all data in relation to own work.
- Supervise centre staff regarding psychological aspects of programme provision and facilitate staff support and supervision meeting.
- Responsible with the Centre Head for training and development of staff and volunteers.
- Ensure the development and articulation of psychological best practice within the centre
- Develop and assure quality and evaluate Maggie’s programme in collaboration with the Centre Head, at a local and national level.
- Responsible for the management of psychological risk within the centre.

Skills, knowledge and expertise
- Postgraduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) and eligible for chartered status with BPS
- Contributing to and working within the context of a multi-disciplinary care team.
- Teaching/training and providing consultation to groups - professional or non-professional.
- Familiar with working from models of psychological wellness, the psychology of health, normal adjustment to illness and quality of life in contrast to a medical model of illness.
- Demonstrable skills in design and conduct of audit and research.
- Expert communicator able to convey complex, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, families, carers and a range of lay and professional persons.

I.T. Co-ordinator (Glasgow)
The role will maximise Maggie’s efficiency and professionalism by ensuring the best use of information technology (IT) and communications systems. You will support the IT Manager to ensure reliability and availability of IT services to all computer users as well as provide technical expertise to the development of policies, procedures and strategies.

Key Responsibilities
- To work with the IT Manager to ensure that all systems, computers and other IT equipment are in good working order and available for all approved computer users.
- Liaise with all suppliers to deliver an efficient and effective IT system.
- To work with the main IT support provider to ensure that the appropriate physical security, disaster recovery, data protection, virus protection and back-up arrangements are in place.
- To ensure that the external IT provider undertakes all necessary software and anti-virus updates and maintains system and data security at all times.
- Support Maggie’s telephone systems in liaison with external providers as needed.
- To keep an overview of file structures and access controls set.

- Responsibility for eliciting cancer related concerns and the psychological and emotional state of people affected by cancer self-referring to Maggies Centre. Provide clinical and technical information as required for each centre visitor as well as emotional and psychosocial support (to Level 3 psychological support) to each centre visitor on each visit.
- To liaise with colleagues to ensure appropriate internal referrals of centre visitors and their use of Maggies programme of cancer support.
- Responsible for leading on delegated aspects of facilitated psychosocial and psycho educational components of Maggies programme, including Maggie’s programme of relaxation and stress management and supervised facilitation of network groups.
- Support the Centre Head in monitoring and identifying aspects of Maggie’s programme of support that are under or over utilised.
- Ensure that Maggie’s Centre environment and resources are maintained in accordance with Maggie’s policies and procedures to ensure that the programme of support is provided effectively and efficiently in a welcoming place.

Head of Philanthropy
A senior member of the high-performing Trusts & Philanthropy team, you will be responsible for routinely raising significant revenue and capital funds from major donors. This key role will focus on working with prospects and donors with the motivation and capacity to invest in Maggie’s growth and will prioritise transformational gifts which can support our accelerated growth. You will be a strategic thinker with significant experience to deliver principal gifts to the value of £1million and above.
As Head of Philanthropy you will ensure the effective identification and cultivation of prospects through board or volunteer networks. You will commission a programme of engagement and stewardship events to inspire and enthuse potential supporters and invigorate current donors to continue support. You will also personally manage a prospect portfolio using exceptional communications, engagement and stewardship strategies in order to achieve our ambitious fundraising goals and objectives.
You must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of major gift portfolio management and principal gift development. A record of successfully expanding the donor base through cultivation and excellent stewardship is also essential. You will share your significant experience and insight where helpful to contribute to the successful development and implementation of Maggie’s overall fundraising strategy.

Key responsibilities
- Plan activity to meet annual individual and team targets and five year goals
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Maggie’s long term fundraising strategy to maximise support from companies, individuals, trusts, foundations, grant-giving organisations and any other relevant sources.
- Build a principal gifts programme that aligns prospects and donors with Maggie’s strategic aims.
- Work with volunteers, boards, centre staff, etc. to create networks and contacts in support of Maggie’s.
- Identify prospects with the potential capacity and motivation to give at a principal gift level
- Routinely commission prospect research from Maggie’s Research function to develop a detailed knowledge of each prospect and to undertake independent research whenever necessary.
- Devise and put into practice a realistic solicitation plan and initiate and maintain an appropriate and consistent level of contact with each prospect either personally or working through nominated Board member/s or via the CEO in order to create an opportunity to ask for support
- Identify the appropriate person to make the final ask and ensure they are briefed and supported in advance, during and immediately afterwards
- Thank and recognise donors immediately, appropriately and in accordance with Maggie’s donor care policy.
- Ensure that all donors are cared for and communicated with appropriately in a personal and customised way.
- Work closely with campaign boards and influential volunteers

- Experience of setting and working with budgets.
- Proven success in writing successful project proposals.
