Aims of the Role
- To deliver a healthy, child-centred and nutritionally balanced menu to the children in the nursery, using fresh produce and as little salt, sugar, artificial flavourings and sweeteners as possible. A rolling four-week menu plan is currently in place, which is adapted twice a year according to the seasons.
- To cater for special dietary needs, providing appropriate and nutritious alternative meals for children with allergies, intolerances, and preferences
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and present all food to a high standard in a timely manner, in accordance with the company menu/recipes and individual needs of the setting
- Ensure all catering activities are carried out in-line with the agreed budget
- Make suitable adaptations to meals/snacks and liaise with key staff as appropriate; adaptations may be needed for babies and younger children, allergies, intolerances, and/or preferences
- To purchase all supplies through agreed nominated suppliers, ensuring sufficient orders are made on a weekly basis
- To follow all company policies and procedures, and complete all relevant operational paperwork
- To encourage and take part in cooking sessions with the children
- Ensure all elements of health and safety legislation are complied with, especially regarding safe working practices, hygiene practices, fire procedures and staff training
- Follow all guidelines and standards set out by Environmental Health Trading Standards
- Facilitate inspections from regulatory bodies, awarding bodies, and implement any recommendations
- To attend staff meetings, work closely with other chefs and staff in the setting, and to undertake training as required

Acorn at Braefield on The Green was Established in 1997, this small and friendly nursery is situated in the village of Brafield-on-the-Green. It is in an idyllic setting, a quiet location on the edge of the village, next to the church.
The nursery offers full and part-time care for children aged four months to four years, and is open 7:30am until 6pm, Monday to Friday, all year round. All Acorn nurseries are closed for all bank holidays, between Christmas and new year, plus our four training days each year. This means the monthly fees are calculated over 49 weeks. You will not be charged for these days, however fees are payable for additional closure days which are out of our control, eg: additional bank holidays over the standard eight. Aims of the Role
- To deliver a healthy, child-centred and nutritionally balanced menu to the children in the nursery, using fresh produce and as little salt, sugar, artificial flavourings and sweeteners as possible. A rolling four-week menu plan is currently in place, which is adapted twice a year according to the seasons.
- To cater for special dietary needs, providing appropriate and nutritious alternative meals for children with allergies, intolerances, and preferences
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and present all food to a high standard in a timely manner, in accordance with the company menu/recipes and individual needs of the setting
- Ensure all catering activities are carried out in-line with the agreed budget

We are looking for an experienced Lead Practitioner to join our nursery in Shenley Church End. This is initially to cover maternity leave but we will also discuss other roles across Acorn when the maternity cover ends.

The nursery offers full and part-time care for children aged four months to four years, and is open 7:30am until 6pm, Monday to Friday, all year round. All Acorn nurseries are closed for all bank holidays, between Christmas and new year, plus our four training days each year. This means the monthly fees are calculated over 49 weeks. - A varied shift pattern, usually between the hours of 07:15am-18:30pm Monday-Friday.
- 'Off the job' learning time within your working week which will support your studies – this will include workshops, experience in different nurseries and rooms, and mentoring sessions.

We are looking for an experienced Lead Practitioner to join our nursery in Westcroft.
This is a full time position 40 hours per week.
Acorn at Westcroft is situated in the Westcroft District Centre, and is adjacent to our training centre where we host training for our staff and other early years professionals. The nursery has three outdoor play areas, giving children the opportunity to free-flow indoors and outdoors to access a full range of activities. Acorn places a strong emphasis on outdoor play and learning, and the children will be outdoors at some point every day, whatever the weather. Included in our fees are regular Forest School sessions. These exciting educational experiences are suitable for pre-schoolers and are delivered by fully trained forest school leaders and offer an innovative approach to outdoor play. We are very fortunate to have Howe Park Wood on our doorstep, which we visit regularly.
The Early Years Lead Practitioner role is a steppingstone into more senior positions and will allow for leadership skills to be developed through direct and ongoing support from senior staff. We are looking for an experienced senior practitioner at our Westcroft Nursery . Acorn at Westcroft is situated in the Westcroft District Centre, and is adjacent to our training centre where we host training for our staff and other early years professionals. - To ensure surfaces are clear and tidy where possible
- To ensure that all areas always have an adequate supply of tabards, bibs, flannels, bedding and paper towels etc
- To ensure that all laundry is up to date
- To clear eating areas and ensuring tables and chairs are thoroughly cleaned after use.
- Be a reliable member of the team, working co-operatively and with flexibility.
- To have a professional approach to cleaning.
- General dusting of the nursery where needed
- Provide ratio cover in the nursery when required
- To be willing to undertake under training needs relevant to the role
