GLL are currently recruiting trainee Swimming Teachers to join us at Henley Leisure Centre. Successful applicants will be fully funded to complete their STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming. We have a range of hours available across weekdays and weekends. The next available STA Level 2 Award Course will be run at Basingstoke Sports Centre, STA Award Course - Basingstoke Sports - 10th to 15th November 2025 What you need: • A competent swimmer. • A good communicator (verbal and non-verbal). • A good motivator (supportive and able to give feedback). • Approachable and patient in nature. • Imaginative. • Willing to learn and commit to a 5-day intensive training course. • Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential. Being a Swimming Teacher is really rewarding, as you’ll thrive on supporting people to achieve their potential. Naturally, there’ll be some administration involved, but rest assured that, once qualified, almost all of your time will be spent teaching, working with a range of ages and abilities. SwimExpert/Hydrokidz are recruiting Trainee Swimming Instructors. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of our swim school team and get paid as you train. Successful candidates will begin as a water helper and work closely with our teachers. The successful candidate will be funded to gain a full professional swimming teacher qualification. The role would be aimed at teaching young children and primary school aged children. The hours available are 2-week day shifts and one weekend shift. Classes run 33 weeks of the year. Candidates must be able to work the shifts listed. This is a termly role with a 18-month committed contract. After the completion of the initial 18-month contract, candidates move to become a self-employed swimming instructor. Candidates must be able to commit to three shifts a week and work a mixture of weekend and weekdays. Candidates must have a passion for working with children and a love of swimming. Candidates do not need to have the qualifications as yet as extensive training and a funded qualification will be given. Candidates must be really willing to work hard, learn on the job. Candidates will be assigned a mentor to guide and develop them but they must bring effort and energy to practice. Dependant on the venue we offer the following: · Hydrokidz – Small group lessons for children · SwimExpert – Private lessons for adults and children of all abilities We can offer anything from 2hrs to Full time roles. We operate 7 days a week and have the ability to form a schedule that works for you. As a Stepping Stones instructor you will be responsible for the delivery of our learn to swim framework which is delivered to swimmers typically aged between 3yrs – 11yrs. Our teachers work hard to build the trust of each swimmer, our teachers are committed to the same classes each week and it is our vision that each teacher becomes a mentor and a role model for each of their swimmers. Our core lesson delivery falls during weekday afternoons and over the weekend’s, we have a range of days and times available for the lesson delivery and additional hours can be picked up on either a temporary (lesson cover) or permanent basis. Qualifications: * National Governing Body Swimming Teacher Certificate (Essential) SSTQ | UKCC | STA | ASA * NRASTC or NPLQ desirable but not essential Main Duties: Safe delivery of swimming lessons following the Stepping Stones weekly framework. Progressing and developing each swimmer through the Stepping Stones framework. Assessment of swimmers for awards programme twice per year. Feedback to the Stepping Stones office as required. Personal Qualities We encourage our swimming teachers to be fun, friendly, bubbly and approachable. As a Stepping Stones teacher you will be able to recognise the needs of the individual swimmer to adapt to each situation, some swimmers will react well to motivation and encouragement, other will need a more gentle caring approach. Our main aim is to have fun, we have found that the best way for our swimmers to engage and enjoy their swimming lesson is for their swimming teacher to have fun during the lesson delivery. Swim Safe are looking for a Lifeguard to join our small team at The Duke of Kent School Wednesday mornings (term time only). As a lifeguard you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals in and around the pool area. This role involves monitoring the lessons being undertaken, enforcing safety rules, responding to emergencies and providing first aid where necessary. Lifeguards must remain alert, professional and ready to act at all times to prevent accidents and maintain a safe environment. We are looking for someone to join our team ready for next term (January), but willing to bring this forward if you are interested in starting earlier.
