Contract: Maternity Cover
Shifts available on a 2 week rolling rota:
Week 1: Monday, Thursday, Saturday 18:00-23:00
Week 2: Monday, Thursday 18:00-23:00; Sunday 10:00-18:00
FTE Salary: £24,570 per year, pro rata (£12.60 per hour)

We're looking for experienced, empathetic and resilient mental health support workers to join us in our purpose of offering hope and support for good mental health so that no one feels alone.
Our North East Essex Sanctuary is a service that provides support to those who are at risk of experiencing emotional distress or are feeling overwhelmed between 10am and 11pm, 365 days per year. As a mental health support worker, you will assess, monitor and support individuals on a one to one basis, via group work and in partnership with a variety of organisations within the locality whilst supporting service users to reach their goals.
You will be part of an experienced team who provide emotional support, face to face, online or via telephone and group work, through active listening, de-escalation and distraction techniques, to prevent admission into emergency departments.

Hours: 2 week rolling rota working 7 hour shifts, 6pm - 1am (24.5 hours on average per week) (Short week - Wednesday, Thursday (14hours) Long week - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday (35 hours))
Pro rata salary: £17,199 per year (£24,570 FTE), pro rata salary includes unsocial hours allowance for hours worked 12 midnight to 1am

The Mental Health Evening Support Worker is a rewarding but at times challenging role, which requires someone who is experienced, empathetic and resilient in supporting people experiencing a mental health crisis.
The role requires you to work with clients to provide emotional support through active listening, de-escalation and distraction techniques. You will act to signpost clients were possible and complete internal referrals for practical support when needed.
The position is part of our Mid Essex Sanctuary service which aims to support individuals who are living with long-term, complex mental health problems who find themselves in crisis. These individuals may be under the care of other services or may have been excluded from available services. Individuals who have never experienced poor mental health but still find themselves in a crisis can also be referred into the service.
Referrals are received via the NHS 111 option 2 service, mental health teams and mental health liaison which are supported by our emotional support team, if it is felt it will be beneficial a referral will be made to the outreach team, community link or substance misuse team.

Mental health crises, have risen sharply in recent years. Emergency healthcare services are often ill-equipped to provide the focused, ongoing support required and are stretched to their limits, leaving many individuals without adequate help during critical moments.
An opportunity has arisen within our team for a Hospital Link Worker to help address the critical need for immediate and accessible mental health support for individuals.
As a Link Worker, you will:
- Offer person centred, empathic support to individuals experiencing emotional and mental health distress within the UTC and Emergency Department.
- Liaise closely with the hospital triage team and other clinical teams within Colchester General Hospital.
- To develop and maintain excellent relationship with the hospital teams, Link Volunteers, NEE Sanctuary and other partnerships.
