Help shape the future of our grounds, for the benefit of our patients and families
North Devon Hospice, Deer Park, Barnstaple, EX32 0HU
1-day per week contract
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands on, skilled and imaginative gardener to lead our team of dedicated volunteer gardeners in the maintenance and enhancement of the grounds at Deer Park. We are particularly keen to work with someone who can bring creative ideas to the development of the grounds and who takes pride in the upkeep of green spaces.
Our Mission is Simple - To provide outstanding care and support to the community of North Devon who are impacted by a life limiting illness. We are about making every moment count with grounds that bring peace, joy and comfort to our patients, families, staff and the general public.
The gardens were started when Deer Park House was built in the 1930’s. In 1993, the hospice moved to Deer Park and since then, we have further developed the garden layout to around 5 acres - with lawns, ponds, an orchard, kitchen garden and physic garden.
The contract will involve the upkeep of the gardens and directing the volunteer gardeners 1 day per week.

· Manage seasonal projects, planting schemes, and wildlife-friendly initiatives.
· Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and hospice policies.
· Work collaboratively with hospice staff to ensure outdoor spaces meet the needs of patients, families, and visitors.
