About the RoleThe Rainforest Alliance is seeking a Senior Officer to strengthen our Standards & Assurance team. This position will contribute to the continued development, maintenance, and application of our certification standards, related documents and other Rainforest Alliance frameworks, while expanding our capacity on social topics that are critical to achieving sustainable outcomes in agriculture and forestry.
The role offers an opportunity to influence how social issues such as labor rights, gender equity, and livelihoods are addressed across our certification system and other frameworks, and to support effective interpretation and implementation of the standard by stakeholders around the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on the integration and refinement of social topics within the Rainforest Alliance standards and contribute on other frameworks.
- Support the development and revision of certification requirements, annexes, and benchmarking requests.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring consistent application of the standards.
- Contribute to indicator design, data frameworks, and evidence-based monitoring to track impact.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and regional teams to ensure relevance and usability of the standard.
- Strengthen knowledge management, tools, and resources to support efficient and consistent standard implementation across regions.
Requirements
- Advanced degree or equivalent experience in social sciences, labor rights, human rights, or related fields.
- 3+ years of professional experience with sustainability standards, certification systems, or social impact programs.
- Demonstrated expertise in social issues relevant to agricultural and forestry supply chains.
- Experience drafting or managing standards, indicators, or frameworks in multi-stakeholder contexts.
- Experience auditing sustainability standards and frameworks, especially in relation to social topics is desirable.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
- Fluency in English with strong writing ability is required; proficiency in Spanish and/or French is highly desirable.

NOW HIRING: Climate Mitigation ManagerPOSITION SUMMARY:
The Climate Mitigation Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s work on farm-level carbon footprinting and insetting within company supply chains, as well as leading the development of emissions factors for RA-certified commodities.
With guidance from the Senior Director Climate, the Manager will lead the design and development of company-level climate mitigation initiatives. This includes designing strategies that enable companies to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, enhance carbon removals, develop insetting initiatives and achieve their corporate climate goals.
The Manager will identify and apply appropriate tools and methodologies for carbon footprinting and insetting initiatives, provide expert guidance on carbon monitoring and corporate GHG accounting methodologies and support field teams and partners in the design and implementation of carbon footprinting activities. The position will also lead the development of climate mitigation initiatives (including agroforestry, forest conservation and restoration, regenerative agriculture and other nature-based climate solutions) that support climate mitigation claims and/or generate carbon credits for companies. The Manager will support the Senior Director Climate in articulating RA’s climate mitigation value proposition to companies, communities, producers and other stakeholders, including identifying emission reduction strategies at the farm, forest and landscape level.
The Climate Mitigation Manager will provide thought leadership to ensure RA’s climate offers align with recognized carbon footprinting frameworks and standards, such as the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) Land Sector and Removal Standard (LSRS), as well as relevant policy and regulatory requirements. The Manager will also advise on permissible climate claims for companies based on their climate mitigation initiatives with RA.
In addition, the Manager will also be engaged in a broader effort by the organization to embed climate mitigation, adaptation and resilience measures into RA’s core programs and will support the ongoing design, implementation and monitoring of RA’s Climate Strategy.
The Manager will require cross-functional collaboration with colleagues in the Global Programs, Advocacy, Product, Corporate Engagement, Marketing and Communications, regional teams and other departments.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
:
Program and Product Design & Delivery
- Support the design and delivery of climate mitigation programs and products for RA’s corporate partners, with a focus on agriculture and forestry supply chains.
- Provide technical expertise to inform the development of Rainforest Alliance climate offers and GTM strategy related to carbon footprinting, insetting, and nature-based climate solutions.
- Develop farm-level climate mitigation initiatives aimed at reducing GHG emissions and enhance carbon removals (including projects addressing emissions from deforestation and degradation, REDD+, ARR, agroforestry, integrated community forest management, regenerative agriculture and climate smart agriculture)
- Identify and advance opportunities to generate credible climate mitigation claims and/or carbon credits
- Support the design and implementation of company-level climate mitigation activities across RA programs (e.g., regional programs, client-specific, donor-funded for landscape interventions, advocacy and outreach, climate finance, etc.)
Carbon Fooptrinting & Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership on carbon footprinting efforts in agricultural systems, including data collection, data modelling and analysis of Scope 3 emissions in supply chains (primarily in coffee, cocoa, tea, and fruit sectors).
- Oversee application of appropriate tools and methodologies for farm-level carbon accounting and insetting, ensuring methodological rigor and consistency.
- Guide internal teams and external partners in accurately measuring, analyzing, and reporting farm-level carbon footprints.
- Support the development and refinement of tools, processes, and systems for collecting, analyzing and reporting on farm-level carbon footprint data at scale
- Lead the development of RA-specific emissions factors for land use and land management emissions for priority certified commodities in select geographies.
Standards Alignment & Corporate Engagement
- Ensure carbon footprinting, reporting, and climate claims are aligned with leading frameworks, including GHGP LSRS, SBTi, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Advise colleagues and corporate partners on development of robust and credible climate mitigation claims.
- Position RA as a leader on farm-level carbon footprinting and insetting within in corporate supply chains.
External Engagement & Thought Leadership
- Represent Rainforest Alliance in external working groups, task forces, and strategic events with external partners (e.g., Cool Farm Alliance) and strategic climate events, contributing to the development of tools, methodologies and reporting frameworks for corporate climate action in the agriculture and forest sectors.
- Provide technical input to program design and proposal development of climate mitigation initiatives.
- Contribute to position papers, research publications, communication materials, technical capacity building initiatives related to climate mitigation.
- Support the ongoing development and implementation of RA’s Climate Change Strategy.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Relevant undergraduate degree holder and MSc degree in Climate Change, Agroecology, Natural Resource Management or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years’ proven experience in sustainable agriculture, natural resource management and/or climate change mitigation activities at the field or programmatic level
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, or supporting climate mitigation initiatives in agricultural or forestry supply chains
- Demonstrated experience conducting carbon footprint assessments in agricultural systems, including data collection, modelling, analysis and reporting.
- Hands-on experience using recognized carbon footprinting tools and methodologies, such as the Cool Farm Platform or comparable tools.
- Strong knowledge of GHG accounting frameworks and standards, particularly the GHGP LSRS.
- Practical understanding of SBTi and its application to corporate climate strategies and reporting.
- Familiarity with monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) approaches for nature-based climate solutions, including agroforestry and regenerative agriculture.
- Ability to translate technical carbon accounting concepts into practical tools, guidance, and solutions for diverse stakeholders
- Experience leading training and capacity-building efforts for technical support to field teams, producers, and external partners
- Experience advising on credible corporate climate claims and sustainability reporting processes.
- Experience with tropical agricultural commodity supply chains (coffee, cocoa, tea) (desirable)
- Strong organizational skills to lead multiple priorities in a time critical manner.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience interpreting complex carbon footprinting data and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Experience managing, analyzing, and visualizing data using tools such as Excel and PowerBI; basic proficiency in programming languages such as R is desirable.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
:
- Ensure compliance with budget and contract requirements in accordance with Rainforest Alliance policies and procedures;
- Build and maintain tools (i.e. forecasts and dashboards) to maintain visibility and transparency on budget allocation and execution;
- Ensure cost recoverability and track cost share requirements;
- Support the annual budgeting and financial planning process (including forecasts) for the portfolio;
- Monitor all financial activities, and keep Management advised of situations which could have potential negative impact or underspending on financial performance;
- Ensure all programmatic and subgrantee expenses are made in line with donor’s rules and regulations, as well as RA’s policies and procedures;
- Facilitate the development, improvement and adoption of improved financial policies, practices and procedures;
- Prepare monthly budget to actual reports, including projections for the grants;
- Maintain and track project codes in accounting system and provide access to staff when needed;
- Assist with financial reports to donors;
- Responsible for sub-awardee financial monitoring, site visits or virtual reviews, reports and follow up;
- Support and review budget to actual reports from subgrantees;
- Serve as a key communication conduit to and from Management and other staff, ensuring the timely and accurate dissemination of information;
- Assist with preparation of budgets for new opportunities;
- Provide training and guidance to staff and subgrantees on budget formulation, tracking and adjustments, financial analysis and reporting and contract management;

Antecedentes
El proyecto Nuestra Selva, Nuestro Futuro surge como una iniciativa orientada a fortalecer la participación de las juventudes en ejidos forestales de la Selva Maya, en un contexto caracterizado por retos estructurales relacionados con el relevo generacional, la limitada inserción laboral juvenil, la migración y la necesidad de consolidar modelos de manejo forestal sostenible con enfoque territorial y comunitario.
Desde su inicio, el proyecto ha buscado generar oportunidades para que las y los jóvenes desarrollen capacidades técnicas, organizativas y sociales que les permitan integrarse activamente a los procesos productivos, de gobernanza y de toma de decisiones en sus comunidades, reconociendo su papel estratégico en la sostenibilidad de los ejidos y del territorio.
A lo largo de diez años de implementación, Nuestra Selva, Nuestro Futuro se ha desarrollado en cuatro etapas consecutivas, durante las cuales el enfoque y las estrategias de intervención han evolucionado de manera progresiva en respuesta al aprendizaje acumulado y a los cambios en los contextos territoriales y educativos.
La primera etapa (2015–2017) se centró en el diseño de herramientas educativas orientadas a fortalecer el conocimiento del entorno local, así como en la creación de oportunidades para que las y los jóvenes desarrollaran habilidades técnicas y prácticas en silvicultura. De manera paralela, se promovió el trabajo coordinado con autoridades ejidales, educativas y otras partes interesadas locales, sentando las bases de articulación territorial del proyecto.
La segunda etapa (2018–2019) tuvo como eje principal el fortalecimiento de procesos formativos mediante el diseño e implementación de talleres de aprendizaje, así como la generación de oportunidades de aprendizaje experiencial que permitieran a las juventudes vincular los conocimientos teóricos con la práctica en contextos reales.
La tercera etapa (2020–2022 / 2022–2024), la cual se vio extendida debido a los efectos de la pandemia, se enfocó en el fortalecimiento del vínculo con el sistema educativo formal. Durante este periodo se apoyó la apertura de nuevas carreras y la modificación curricular, se impulsaron procesos de capacitación para docentes de nivel medio superior y superior, y se consolidaron estrategias de aprendizaje experiencial como componente central del modelo de intervención.
Actualmente, el proyecto se encuentra en la cuarta etapa (2024–2026), la cual tiene como objetivo profundizar y consolidar los aprendizajes previos mediante el diseño e implementación de herramientas educativas actualizadas, el fortalecimiento del aprendizaje experiencial y la provisión de asistencia técnica para el diseño participativo de programas de empleabilidad juvenil a nivel de ejido forestal.
Como resultado de este proceso, el proyecto ha generado aprendizajes relevantes, resultados tangibles y modelos de intervención que han contribuido al fortalecimiento de juventudes rurales, a la articulación con ejidos forestales y a la construcción de redes y alianzas territoriales. No obstante, la experiencia acumulada a lo largo de las cuatro etapas no ha sido sistematizada de manera integral, lo que limita su aprovechamiento estratégico para el cierre de la fase actual y para el diseño de futuras intervenciones.
En este contexto, se identifica la necesidad de llevar a cabo una sistematización estratégica que permita analizar, ordenar y capitalizar los aprendizajes, resultados y la evolución del proyecto Nuestra Selva, Nuestro Futuro a lo largo de diez años. Este ejercicio busca generar insumos que fortalezcan la toma de decisiones, la rendición de cuentas, la sostenibilidad del modelo y su posible replicabilidad en otros territorios, incorporando el análisis de decisiones estratégicas, desafíos, tensiones y ajustes realizados durante la implementación del proyecto, así como los aprendizajes derivados de estos procesos.
Alcance del trabajo de consultoría
Objetivos principales
Desarrollar una sistematización estratégica del proyecto Nuestra Selva, Nuestro Futuro que analice, ordene y capitalice los aprendizajes, resultados y la evolución del proyecto a lo largo de sus diez años de implementación, con el propósito de generar insumos estratégicos que fortalezcan la toma de decisiones, la rendición de cuentas, la sostenibilidad del modelo y su posible replicabilidad en otros territorios.
La consultoría comprenderá el diseño y ejecución de un proceso de sistematización estratégica del proyecto Nuestra Selva, Nuestro Futuro, orientado a la capitalización de aprendizajes, resultados y evolución del modelo de intervención a lo largo de diez años y cuatro etapas de implementación.
De manera específica, el alcance incluirá:
- Revisión y análisis integral de la documentación relevante del proyecto, incluyendo informes técnicos y narrativos, materiales educativos, planes de trabajo, productos de conocimiento, registros de actividades y otros insumos disponibles, con énfasis en la evolución del proyecto a lo largo de sus distintas etapas.
- Diseño del enfoque metodológico de la sistematización, incorporando criterios de aprendizaje institucional de la WKKF, adaptación al contexto y contribución al cambio sistémico, así como un análisis longitudinal del proceso de implementación.
- Identificación, análisis y diferenciación de los principales productos, resultados intermedios y cambios observados del proyecto en relación con el fortalecimiento de capacidades de juventudes rurales, la participación comunitaria y la sostenibilidad territorial.
- Recuperación y análisis de las perspectivas de actores clave (equipo implementador, juventudes participantes, autoridades ejidales, instituciones educativas, consultores, voluntariado y socios estratégicos), mediante entrevistas, talleres participativos u otros mecanismos pertinentes.
- Análisis de la evolución del modelo de intervención y de la teoría de cambio del proyecto, documentando los procesos de aprendizaje, adaptación y mejora continua implementados en respuesta a cambios de contexto (por ejemplo, pandemia, ajustes curriculares y dinámicas territoriales).
- Análisis de la contribución del proyecto a procesos de cambio sistémico, particularmente en la articulación entre juventudes, ejidos, instituciones educativas y otros actores territoriales, reconociendo el papel del proyecto como catalizador de procesos más amplios en la región de implementación.
- Elaboración de productos de conocimiento estratégicos y accesibles, orientados a la rendición de cuentas, el aprendizaje institucional y la toma de decisiones del donante y de la organización implementadora, considerando distintos públicos y niveles de profundidad.
- Formulación de recomendaciones estratégicas orientadas al aprendizaje y la toma de decisiones, que contribuyan al cierre reflexivo de la fase actual del proyecto y sirvan como base para el diseño, ajuste o escalamiento de futuras intervenciones alineadas con los principios y prioridades de la WKKF.
Actividades
Para el cumplimiento del alcance y la entrega de los productos establecidos, la consultoría incluirá las siguientes actividades:
1. Planeación y diseño metodológico
- Reunión de inicio con la organización implementadora.
- Definición del enfoque metodológico y preguntas de sistematización.
- Elaboración y validación del plan de trabajo y cronograma
2. Revisión y análisis documental
- Revisión sistemática de documentación relevante del proyecto.
- Organización de información por etapas de implementación.
- Análisis preliminar de resultados, aprendizajes y evolución del modelo.
3. Recuperación de aprendizajes con actores clave
- Identificación de actores clave.
- Diseño y aplicación de instrumentos de recolección de experiencias e información.
- Sistematización de entrevistas y/o sesiones de reflexión y recolección de información.
4. Análisis estratégico
- Integración de información documental y de campo.
- Identificación de aprendizajes clave, buenas prácticas y desafíos.
- Análisis de contribuciones, adaptación y sostenibilidad del modelo.
5. Elaboración de productos
- Redacción del informe de sistematización estratégica.
- Elaboración del documento ejecutivo de aprendizajes y recomendaciones.
- Incorporación de observaciones y ajustes finales.
6. Presentación y cierre
- Presentación de resultados a la organización implementadora.
- Entrega final de productos y cierre de la consultoría.
Productos/Entregables
Términos y Condiciones generales para la Solicitud de Propuestas
- Los ofertantes deben proporcionar toda la información requerida en esta solicitud de propuestas y responder de forma clara y concisa a todos los puntos establecidos en la misma. Cualquier propuesta que no responda de forma completa y exhaustiva a esta solicitud de propuestas podrá ser rechazada.
- Las propuestas y/o cualquier información adicional recibida después de la fecha y hora de presentación estarán sujetas a rechazo por parte de RA.
- Las propuestas incompletas podrán ser rechazadas por RA a su discreción.
- RA se reserva el derecho de solicitar información adicional en cualquier momento del proceso de contratación.
- RA tiene la libertad de hacer múltiples o ninguna selección como parte del proceso de propuesta. RA también se reserva el derecho a cancelar la contratación.
- Todos los costos de la propuesta correrán a cargo del ofertante y no serán reembolsados por RA.

Proceso y formato de la propuesta
Los consultores o empresas consultoras interesados deberán presentar su propuesta incluyendo lo siguiente:
1. Requisitos legales: Previa solicitud, los consultores deberán facilitar todos los documentos legales exigidos por RA y/o la legislación local, por ejemplo, permiso de trabajo, datos bancarios, datos de registro, documentos fiscales, etc. Cuando la oportunidad esté restringida a un lugar específico, sólo se tendrán en cuenta los candidatos autorizados a trabajar en dicho lugar.
2. Requisitos de las propuestas técnicas: Las personas físicas o empresas consultoras interesadas deberán presentar una propuesta técnica que incluya un plan de trabajo detallado, la metodología propuesta y el calendario de actividades y entregables. La propuesta deberá indicar si la consultoría será desarrollada por una persona física o por un equipo multidisciplinario, especificando los perfiles involucrados. Asimismo, deberá incluir una relación de trabajos previos relevantes que acrediten la experiencia requerida para la consultoría, los currículums vitae actualizados de las personas que participarán en el proyecto o de la persona proponente, y al menos 2 referencias profesionales recientes, incluyendo nombre de la persona de contacto, correo electrónico y número telefónico.

This person will work to create more visibility for the Rainforest Alliance in the region by designing and implementing regional communications strategy. The focus is on developing targeted communications, media relations and thought leadership to inspire and engage our key stakeholders in the region (farmers, forest communities, companies, governments).
This role is part of the global Corporate Affairs department and works in close collaboration with the entire Marketing and Communications team as well as regional colleagues in Guatemala, Mexico, Costa Rica and other countries in Meso America.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
:
- Develop and implement the communications strategy and annual communications planfor the region to ensure our key stakeholders in the region (farmers, forest communities, companies, governments) are engaged and understand how they can work with the Rainforest Alliance as part of our certification and/or landscape and community programs.
- Work closely with global Marketing and Communications teamand communications managers in other regions to ensure alignment with global communications strategy and priorities, find synergies and optimize processes.
- Work with regional and country directorsto create visibility and position the Rainforest Alliance as a thought leader in the region and key countries (i.e. through visibility in the media and at strategic events).
- Develop relations with journalistsin the region – in close collaboration with global Media team. Monitor media coverage, be the first point of contact for regional media outlets and proactively cultivate and maintain relationships with key media.
- Guide and coordinate the work of project-focused communications staff and consultantsin the region to ensure alignment.
- Repurpose relevant global communications materials and contentfor the region and lead production of region-specific communications materials for key audiences, including fact sheets, brochures, decks, support for speaking engagements, website and social media content, videos, event materials - with support of the global Creative & Editorial team.
- Work with the global Marketing and Communications team to ensure the work of the region is well represented in all global communications (external and internal), gathering storytelling collateral, and advising on priorities from regional perspective.
- Monitor and help manage reputational risksin the region – in close collaboration with Corporate Reputation team.
- Monitor, manage and grow the Rainforest Alliance’s regional social media.

Administrative Support:
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the regional team to ensure smooth functioning of the offices;

Asset and Inventory Management:
