Club Background:
The University of Leicester Running and Athletics Club is a vibrant student-led sports club focused on providing high-quality coaching, inclusive participation, and competitive opportunities in athletics. The club is looking to build on its success in sprint events by appointing a dedicated sprints coach who can support student athletes in reaching their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver athlete-centred sprint training sessions, tailored to different abilities.
Educate athletes on sprinting techniques, race strategy, and performance optimisation.
Monitor and assess athlete progress, providing constructive feedback.
Create a positive, inclusive, and motivating environment for all members.
Ensure athlete safety during sessions, adhering to best practice guidelines.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

A recognised UK Athletics coaching qualification (minimum Athletics Coach/Level 2 or equivalent).

Experience working with athletes in a club or university setting is desirable.
Commitment to promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and athlete welfare.

About University of Huddersfield Women's Basketball 1st Team Head Coach

The post holder will deliver quality coaching, management and organisation to the University of Huddersfield Women's Basketball 1st Team. This team competes in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS). This role will primarily be responsible for the coaching of the team, as well as leading on mentoring student coaches, the club trial process and linking with other club coaches. The teams train once a week at Student Central, Queensgate campus and play across the Northern region on a Wednesday afternoon in BUCS.

The University of Huddersfield and the West Yorkshire Hawks are collaborating to establish an elite performance basketball program at the university, therefore additional support through this program will be provided for the role.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Deliver an effective coaching programme that helps improve the performance and experience of playing members.

• Plan and deliver an effective pre-season in September and after the mid-season break in January.

• Lead the 1st team with input from the assistant coach, team captains to select playing squads and maintain a transparent selection processes and pathways between squads.

• Assist in recruiting students to engage with coaching opportunities, providing opportunities where appropriate to coach within the club.

• Mentor student coaches within the club and offer support where appropriate to members who wish to undertake coaching qualifications or opportunities within the Coaching Pathway.

• Provide regular information and status reports, as agreed with the Students' Union, on team and club performance and progress.

• Work closely with ActiveHud, West Yorkshire Hawks, the Students' Union and committee members to assist with the development of Women's Basketball at The University of Huddersfield.

• To ensure all sessions comply with Health and Safety.

• To work within an equal opportunities framework.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership:

• Lead the development and implementation of a multi-channel income generation strategy, aligned with the Charity's long-term goals and values.
• Prioritise growth in high value income streams, to maximise donor, partnership potential of giving, community fund raising and events and legacies.
• Embed a support-centric culture across all our income streams, ensuring positive and long-lasting relationships with our supporters/ donors and wider community.
• Contribute to the wider strategic direction and leadership of the charity as a member of the senior leadership team.
• Report to the Managing Director and Board on performance, risk and opportunities across all areas of income generation.

Philanthropy and Partnerships:

• Lead on philanthropic income development, through the creation of compelling cases for support and deep, personalised engagement with major donors, corporate partners and trusts.
• Build a sustainable pipeline of high-value supporters and partnerships.
• Personally cultivate and manage a portfolio of senior level relationships.

Public Fund Raising and Community Engagement:

Develop and grow innovative public fund raising including:
• Individual giving and legacies – building a long-term pipeline of committed supporters with a focus on regular giving, digital engagement ad gifts in wills.
• Community fund raising – empowering supporters and volunteers to raise funds locally and through grassroots activities
• Challenge events and fundraising events – developing inspiring, high-quality events that drive income and engagement.
• Partnerships – develop long lasting partnerships with local corporate sponsors to enable sustainability of programme delivery

Financial and operational management:

• Set and manage budgets across all fundraising streams, ensuring robust financial management and accurate forecasting
• Monitor and evaluate performance using data and insight, driving continuous improvement and informed decision making

External Engagement and Representation:

• Act as senior ambassador for Somerset Cricket Foundation alongside Managing Director with key donors, stakeholders and networks.
• Build and maintain relationships with sector peers, partners and collaborators to share learning and enhance innovation.
• Monitor and respond to external fundraising trends, policy developments and sector insights to inform strategy and tactics.

• Ensure equality, diversity and inclusion and the voices of those supported by Somerset Cricket Foundation and SCCC are considered in all aspects of income generation work.

Charity Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership as part of the senior leadership team, including at times deputising for the Managing Director when required.
• Ensure that all activities within the remit of the role comply with relevant legislation, regulation and the charities policies and procedures.
• Share expertise and give recommendations on legislative and regulatory requirement and best practice across the scope of the role.
• Ensure the safe, secure and ethical use of all data and information you access. This includes protecting sensitive data, following charity policies and legal requirements and ensuring information is only used for the right purposes.

• Represent the charity as required at events

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Proven track record of senior leadership in income generation, with significant success
in philanthropy and at least one of the following: corporate partnership, trusts and foundations, legacies.
• Strong experience in public fundraising, with understanding of community fundraising, events and individual giving strategies.
• Track record of delivering and exceeding income targets across a diverse range of income streams.
• Experience of leading strategy development, managing significant budgets and reporting at Board level.
• Knowledge of fundraising regulation, GDPR and ethical fundraising practices
• Strategic thinking with strong commercial acumen, with a track record of converting this into practice.
• Skilled relationship builder, able to engage confidently with major donors, corporate partners, volunteers and stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to build high performing inclusive teams.
• Data literate, with clear understanding of how to interpret data to drive fund raising strategy and performance.
• Confident communicator and ambassador, internally and externally with excellent influencing and presentation skills.
• Comfortable operating collaboratively with senior leadership team, with shared accountability for organisational success.

About Programme Manager - Nature Towns and Cities

This position is available as a secondment opportunity for 24 months. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Programme Manager to lead and deliver Nature Towns and Cities - Roots to Healthy Places: Nature Connections in Luton, an ambitious new initiative funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. This flagship programme will strengthen connections between people and nature across Luton, with a particular focus on supporting underrepresented communities, including young people, people with disabilities and South Asian communities, to access, enjoy and shape their local green spaces.

The project will engage communities who currently face barriers to using and benefitting from green spaces, offering opportunities to co-create improvements and take part in a range of cultural and physical activities that enhance health and wellbeing. It also includes a full survey of council-owned land to inform nature recovery priorities and develop new opportunities for investment in nature.

As Programme Manager, you will lead and coordinate all aspects of this multi-partner initiative. This includes managing delivery, building strong relationships with partners and stakeholders, overseeing community engagement, and ensuring all National Lottery Heritage Fund requirements are met. You will line manage a Volunteering Officer and contractors, lead project communications, and identify new income streams for nature conservation, such as biodiversity credits. You will also be responsible for programme monitoring, evaluation and reporting within the Climate Change Service.

About you

You will be an experienced and confident project and programme manager, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and in line with value-for-money principles. You have demonstrable experience in managing, commissioning, and overseeing projects, including heritage or biodiversity-related initiatives, and in leading project teams, motivating others and driving consistent performance. You are skilled in programme and change management, maintaining quality assurance systems, performance frameworks, and transformational change projects.

You are adept at developing clear project plans, business cases, and contract or project documentation, and can produce dashboards and workflows to ensure compliance and performance. You can prepare and deliver clear, compelling reports and presentations, and possess strong knowledge of relevant policy and legislative requirements. You bring a strategic yet practical approach, ensuring projects achieve key performance targets while delivering meaningful outcomes for communities and stakeholders.
