Job Description Head of Maths and ICT Department: Academic Hours: Salary: Report to: Senior Deputy Head (Academic) Job Purpose: • Establishes goals and expectations for Maths and ICT in all subjects, across Pre- Prep, Lower Prep and Upper Prep • Works collaboratively with the Learning Support Department and other HODs • Contributes to the Teaching and Learning Team Key Responsibility /Accountability The role includes the following key points: • Working collaboratively to set school-wide Maths and ICT goals for improved student achievement, so that there is clarity and consensus across Pre-Prep, Lower Prep and Upper Prep • Monitor curriculum overview, termly programmes of study and medium-term planning for Maths and ICT (all teachers’ responsibility) • Developing strategies for the implementation of a clear approach to numeracy outcomes • Teaching Upper Prep Maths, Years 6 - 8 • Oversight and leadership of all Maths components related to Common Entrance (13+)/CASE and senior school entry, including scholarship preparation, assessment coordination, and academic scholarship mentoring. • Oversight and delivery of the school’s digital strategy • Lead on use of ‘Ed Tech’ for teaching staff and pupils Planning, coordinating, promoting, and evaluating numeracy and ICT across the curriculum. This includes: • Communication with teachers, subject specialists and SLT • Curriculum mapping of Maths and ICT through the school from Year 1-8 • Helping teachers to gather and analyse classroom data on numeracy progress and achievement to ensure breadth and progression through the school from Year 1-8 • Be proactive with introducing numeracy initiatives and enrichment, as and where appropriate • Budget responsibility for Maths and ICT Additional Elements: Promoting and participating in teacher learning and development. This includes: • Planning and running staff training • Support and evaluation of teaching through regular classroom visits and appropriate feedback to teachers about effective numeracy practice • Discussing numeracy initiative plans and progress with teachers • Helping teachers to identify areas for improvement in their maths and ICT teaching practice • Helping teachers to integrate numeracy approaches and ideas into their classroom practice Ensuring an orderly and supportive environment and advocate for the protection of time for Maths and ICT teaching and learning Child Protection and Safeguarding • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Additional Duties You will undertake assigned daytime, evening and weekend duties and responsibilities in the school as required, ensuring that all actions are discharged within the regulatory and legislative requirements to which the School is subject. You will also undertake to carry out any other reasonable duties commensurate with the post as directed by the Headmaster. To teach an agreed number of lessons across the week, as per class teacher role.
