General Purpose:
The Elms operates a daily minibus service to and from the school from various local locations with stops along the route. The Minibus Driver will be required to drive the school minibus on a pre-set route picking up/dropping off pupils.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- • Conduct driver safety checks on the vehicle before each driving session, ensuring that any faults are entered in the vehicle run sheet and reported to the Bursar
• Take care of passengers ensuring they are all accounted for, seated correctly, wearing seatbelts and that they behave appropriately during journeys
• Successfully complete MIDAS training
• Complete the vehicle logbook and run sheet for each journey
• Carry a mobile phone when on journeys. Check for parent messages at stops
• Use Whatsapp on your mobile phone to communicate with your passenger families, and use Live Location to allow parents to track the progress of the minibus
• Take due care of the vehicle and drive safely and responsibly at all times
• Should you be involved in an accident report it straight away and fill out accident report form
• Read and be familiar with the school Minibus and Vehicle Handbook and Policy
• Clean the minibus inside and out weekly
• Ensure the minibus is fuelled and ready for use (at least half a tank)
• Take the minibus for its regular checks, servicing, repairs and MOTs as required
• Attend INSET training at the start of each term
• Undertake First Aid training and refresher courses as required by the Bursar
• To maintain confidentiality in respect of school related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential and sensitive information

Approximately 23.5 hours per week. However, drivers are welcome to apply to drive just the morning runs or just the afternoon runs.
The current shift pattern is as below, but is subject to change depending on demand.
• Morning Shift: 6am-8.30am (Monday-Friday) = 13.5 hours per week (12.5 hours driving plus additional hour for bus cleaning/fuelling
• Afternoon shift: 5.30pm – 8pm (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday*) = 10 hours per week (9 hours driving plus additional hour for bus cleaning/fuelling*NB. Exeat weekends (2 per term): buses leave school at 12.30pm
Remuneration: - 14.28 per hour
Morning and evening runs: £11,074 per annum for a 33 week year/£922 per month
Morning runs only: £6,362 per annum for a 33 week year/£530 per month
Evening runs only: £4,712 per annum for a 33 week year/ £393 per monthSalaries are paid monthly over twelve months
Occasional overtime available at the standard hourly rate if pre-agreed with the BursarHolidays:
Holiday pay is incorporated into the enhanced hourly rate of pay.
Medical:
All employees of The Elms are required to complete a medical questionnaire and declaration on commencing employment with the school. The school reserves the right to carry out further investigations into your medical condition depending on the answers provided.
DBS Screening:
Employees of The Elms will need to undergo an enhanced DBS. The outcome of this screening may have an effect on the employment of that person.
Safeguarding:
The postholder will be required to undertake Safeguarding children training.

Learning Support Assistant
Responsible to: Head of Learning Support
Location: The Elms School, Colwall
Member of: SEND Team
General Purpose:
To provide 1-2-1 support to a child who needs support in the classroom and wider school environment.
Working conditions:
Remuneration: Dependent on experience
Hours: Hours of work between Mon – Sat, school term time only (33 weeks per year) and two days following the end and two days prior to the start of term for in-service training and administration.
Probation period: 6 months, which can be extended if deemed necessary.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Support the individual needs of a pupil, following their individual learning support plan. Work with the Head of Learning Support to develop the learning plan, stretch and challenge the individual and encourage their independent interests. Use a creative approach to motivate, inspire and challenge students on a one to one basis and within a small group, to develop peer on peer interactions.
To engage with School life and The Elms community, to ensure learning and co curricular are both experienced. To support with House events, co-curricular activities and sports.
To support the pupil on a one to one basis within a classroom environment, and within a co-curricular setting.
To ensure you are up to date on learning development theories, approaches and able to develop these to best support pupils.
To develop the pupil’s abilities to allow them further independence and to challenge and motivate them to attain agreed upon targets.

Job Title: 1:1 Learning Support Assistant / General Teaching Assistant Duties We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic LSA to join our established SEND department working 1:1 with a child in KS3. Responsible to: SENDCo / Headmaster Fixed Term Contract Term Time Only: Full-time hours Monday - Saturday 8.30am-5.30pm. Start: Immediate The Elms The Elms is a wonderful co-educational prep school situated on the Herefordshire/Worcestershire border. We are nestled in the foothills of the Malvern Hills in 45 acres of rural tranquillity, in the village of Colwall, which is 10 minutes from Ledbury or Malvern. We have our own working farm, with cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, poultry, and horses, all of which are part of the teaching and learning curriculum. The Elms was founded in 1614, making us the oldest prep school in England still situated on its original site. We are an IAPS boarding and day school and pride ourselves on achieving excellent results and well-rounded children. Key Responsibilities We recognise the teachers at The Elms are responsible for meeting additional learning needs and the progress of all pupils in their classes. Our LSAs have a different, but distinct, complementary role and contribution in helping our pupils become confident, competent, independent and successful learners. It is the responsibility of the SENDCo to ensure LSAs support the work of teachers and the school. Role Work closely and build a strong relationship with the child, their family and other professionals to develop a thorough understanding of the child’s individual needs. Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the SENDCo and teacher, adjusting activities according to pupil’s individual targets. Use a range of methods to help the child access the curriculum, understand what is required in a lesson and develop confidence and engagement in their learning. Liaise with outside agencies with the support of the SENDCo and implement suggested strategies in class. Ensure that all teachers are familiar with the child’s needs and most effective support strategies to use in the classroom. Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress. Offer support and regular feedback to the family. Support the child on school trips and outings as appropriate. Attend meetings in school as necessary. Fulfil a range of administrative tasks associated with the post e.g. record keeping.
