The Royal Air Force Museum is looking for a dynamic and proactive IT/AV Technician who likes to take the initiative to join a busy and well-established IT department, acting as a first point of contact for our users.
You will be working on anything from Cyber Security and Networking to Digital Gallery interactive repairs and meeting room Audio Visual, as well as traditional desktop support. The role can be very hands-on at times, but with elements of remote support, troubleshooting and investigation. You must be able to work independently, and take the initiative, but also be a team player.
The successful candidate must have experience with 1st- and some 2nd-line IT and AV support in a hands-on environment.
There will be opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge working as part of a small, friendly and supportive team, across a wide range of competencies, and the opportunity to use a wide variety of systems.
You will also get involved with new projects (not just IT) within a varied role offering vital support to the business within a unique heritage environment.

We are looking to recruit a Retail Assistant.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering the commercial activities of the Museum with the sale of goods and services in our retail and visitor areas and supporting the delivery of museum events.
Key duties of this role will be the preparing, monitoring and operating of our exciting new Soft Play attraction and associated ‘pop-up’ gift shop. You will provide high standards of customer care through proactive engagement with our visitors. Your duties will also include managing daily bookings, session times and capacities, as well as processing sales of tickets and shop stock via EPOS tills and booking platforms across all the museums retail outlets and experiences.
Candidates should have excellent customer service skills, a friendly attitude and the ability to multi-task. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver an exceptional visitor experience, ensuring that The Royal Air Force Museum exceeds the expectations of all our visitors.
Ideally you will have previous retail or customer facing experience, be a team player and keen to learn new skills. You will be enthusiastic about presenting the Museum, the RAF and the RAF stories to all our visitors.
This is a full-time, 1-year fixed term role, working 35 hours per week, 7 hours per day, between the normal hours of 9.15am and 5.15pm on any 5 days out of the 7-day week. The actual working hours will vary from week to week according to the departmental roster and will include working weekends, public holidays and early mornings/evenings as necessary. Flexibility will be required in terms of hours and days worked, based on operational requirements.
This role will be based at our London site.

The Museum is looking to recruit an experienced Retail Supervisor. Assisted by the Retail Manager, you will be responsible for supervising day to day retail operational activity and ensuring the provision of consistently high standards of customer care to actively support the strategic priorities of the Museum. You will help to maximise the commercial return from the Museum’s retail activities and experiences as well as supporting all commercial operations, delivering an excellent visitor experience. You will actively contribute to the interpretation of the story of the RAF and support daily operations across the Museum.
The right candidate will have a proven track record in commercial retail sales, EPOS and stock control systems coupled with the promotion and delivery of a high standard of customer service and care. We are looking for someone with prior supervisory experience and passion in leading and motivating a team, as well as driving the standards of both service and sales.
Travel between the Museum’s sites will be necessary from time to time as well as attending off site events, trade shows and training courses, which may require overnight stays.
This is a part-time, permanent role, working 21 hours per week, 7 hours per day on any 3 days out of the 7-day week, including weekends, bank holidays and early mornings/evenings, as necessary.
The role will be based at our Midlands site.
