About the role

These will be performed at Bradbury Studios on 11 December 2026.

We encourage stories with humour, wit, satire, or irony to highlight human truths, challenge perspectives, and simply make audiences laugh out loud.

Rehearsals will take place across the week commencing 30 November and 7 December.

This is an opportunity for writers to share their work with the public and industry professionals.

Each selected writer who platforms their play receives a fee of £500 plus dramaturgical support from Graeae.

Please know we cannot feedback on every submission, only those selected for Crips with Chips, but we will let you know the outcome.

Script criteria and what to submit

Script Criteria:

  • Length: 8 – 12 pages in standard script format
  • Genre/Theme: Comedy
  • Cast Size: Maximum of 2 actors per piece (you may write more than 2 characters, provided they can be played by up to 2 actors).
  • Casting Requirement: All roles will be performed by a Deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent cast. Your characters do not need to be written as explicitly disabled.

What to Submit:

To apply, please submit a document containing:

  • Your Script: 8 -12 pages.
  • Summary: A brief pitch/summary of the complete piece (max 200 words).
  • “Why This Story and Why Now?”: A brief statement explaining your inspiration and timelines (max 250 words).
  • Writer Biography: A short bio detailing your background and previous creative work (max 150 words).
