Woodlands and Estate Maintenance Worker

We  are  currently  looking  for  an  enthusiastic  and  motivated  person,  preferably  with
experience of working or training in forestry, to join our woodlands and estate maintenance
team.    The  role  will  be  to  assist  in  the  management  of  Estate  woodlands  and  wider  Estate
maintenance tasks.

This  is  a  physically  demanding  role  and  includes  a  high  level  of  manual  work.    You  must
have a flexible approach to work hours to help cope with emergencies and other unforeseen
occurrences.

Reporting to the Woodlands and Estate Maintenance Foreman.

Personal Specification

Essential skills and experience (allowances may be made for the right candidate):

•  Full UK driving licence
•  NPTC  chainsaw  certificates  (minimum  –  maintenance  &  cross  cutting  &  felling  and

processing trees up to 380mm)

•  Experience in forestry or related areas
•  A positive approach to health & safety
•  Good problem-solving skills, and being able to work on your own or as part of a team

Desirable skills:

•  Emergency First Aid at Work
•  Pesticides certificates (PA1/PA6)
•  Telehandler Experience

About the Grimsthorpe & Drummond Castle Trust Limited

The Trust

The Grimsthorpe and Drummond Castle Trust Limited is a registered charity, which owns the
Grimsthorpe  Estate  in  Lincolnshire  and  the  central  part  of  the  Drummond  Estate  in
Perthshire.

The  Estates  include  important  buildings,  Grimsthorpe  Castle  and  Drummond  Castle,  their
contents  and  surroundings,  together  with  much  other  historically  important  property.    The
principal objective of the Company is to conserve and enhance the property and assets owned
by the company.

The Grimsthorpe Estate

The Estate is situated just north of Stamford in South Lincolnshire, it extends to about 12,500
acres and includes the Castle, gardens and park, which are open to the public.  The remainder
of  the  land  is  either  let  farmland  or  woodland.    The  woodland  consists  of  1,235  acres  of
plantations, amenity and conservation woodlands.

Within the Estate boundaries are three villages, which are owned to a greater or lesser degree
by the Estate.  In all there are around two hundred houses and twenty farms.
