West Bromwich Choir Leader Post

WE’RE LOOKING FOR A NEW CHOIR LEADER FOR AN ESTABLISHED CHOIR IN WEST BROMWICH

This role is not for everyone.

We are not simply looking for someone who can conduct a choir or teach vocal parts.
There are plenty of people who can do that.

There are plenty of people who can do that.

We are looking for someone who understands that a choir is, first and foremost, a

community.

Someone who knows that:

  • People don’t come just to sing, they come tofeel something
  • Confidence grows when people feel safe, not when they feel judged
  • The best sound comes afterthe room is full of energy, trust and connection

At The People’s Show Choir, we believe in one simple principle:

People first. Music second.

And we mean it.

West Bromwich choir rehearses at

All Saints Parish Church,

All Saints Way, West Bromwich, B71 1RU

Wednesday Evenings – 7.00pm to 8:30pm

Rehearsals are weekly during term time

We believe community music leadership should be properly valued. This role offers straightforward weekly pay for rehearsals, alongside the potential to build extra income through local performances.

Weekly rehearsal fee
Earn £80 per 2-hour rehearsal for choirs with up to 100 singers.

Higher fee for larger choirs
Earn £100 per 2-hour rehearsal for choirs with over 100 singers.

Concert profit opportunity
Choir leaders can run around 2 to 3 local ticketed concerts each year and keep the profits after costs.

For the right leader, this is a role that can be both creatively fulfilling and financially worthwhile.

What this role really involves

Yes, you will skilfully teach songs and lead rehearsals.

But more importantly, you will:

  • Create an environment where people feel welcome from the moment they walk in
  • Give people permission to let go, have fun, and be themselves
  • Build confidence in people who may never have sung before
  • Turn a group of individuals into achoir that belongs to each other

You will be as comfortable leading a room with warmth and humour as you are conducting a piece of music.

Who this role is for

This role

mightbe for you if:
  • You naturally prioritise people over perfection
  • You get genuine joy from seeing others grow in confidence
  • You can bring energy into a room even when it’s not there yet
  • You are approachable, encouraging, and emotionally intelligent
  • You understand that leadership is about creating space for others, not standing in front of them

Musical ability and conducting experience are important, but they are not enough on their own.

What you’ll be stepping into

This is a good-sized choir with huge potential.

With the right leadership, it can become a vibrant, confident and connected community.

You will be supported by a wider organisation, training, and a proven approach to building belonging within choirs.

Alongside a strong base rate, there is uncapped bonus potential tied to the growth of your choir, giving you the opportunity to build something special and be rewarded for it.

Final thought

We can teach someone how to run a rehearsal.

We cannot teach someone to care about people.

If you read this and felt a strong sense of

“this is exactly how I believe a choir should feel”,we would love to hear from you.
