Role Purpose

Age Concern Hampshire (ACH) is seeking a compassionate, organised and proactive Volunteer Manager. This role will lead the volunteer strategy for ACH and will be responsible for the end-to-end volunteer journey including attraction, recruitment, onboarding, training, engagement and ongoing support and co-ordination. This role is part time, 20 hours per week.

Main Responsibilities

Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Develop and implement the volunteer strategy for ACH
  • Partner with Marketing to promote volunteer opportunities
  • Partner with Care and Wellbeing Centre Managers and Service leads to determine volunteer requirements and resource plan accordingly.
  • Lead the recruitment and onboarding of volunteers across ACH services and projects
  • Partner with HR and service leads to ensure volunteer recruitment processes are effective, safe and consistent
  • Support the mobilisation of volunteers linked to organisational priorities

Volunteer Support & Engagement

  • Act as a key point of contact for volunteers and service leads
  • Maintain regular communication with volunteers to provide support, guidance and encouragement
  • Own volunteer engagement, retention and recognition initiatives to help ensure volunteers feel valued, supported and connected to the wider organisation.
  • Partner with HR to identify volunteer training needs

Compliance, Safeguarding & Quality

  • Ensure volunteers have access to appropriate policies, procedures and guidance
  • Identify opportunities to improve volunteer processes, communication and coordination across services
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and support data input on relevant systems
  • Ensure safe working practices are followed and appropriate safeguarding processes are in place
  • Support escalation of concerns or issues where required
  • Monitor volunteer activity and gathering information for reporting purposes

 

 

 

General

  • Keep informed of developments, training opportunities and best practice relating to volunteering and services for older people
  • Contribute positively to the wider work and values of Age Concern Hampshire
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role

Person Specification – Manager

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience of managing / leading volunteers, community groups or within a people-focused role
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative whilst also working collaboratively as part of a wider team
  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Experience of maintaining accurate records and using databases or CRM systems
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to support and encourage volunteers in a positive and inclusive way
  • Understanding of the challenges affecting older people and the importance of community-based support
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work
