Salary:£28.760 p.a pro rata FTE (0.6 FTE £17,256)
Location:Flexible with regular visits to the CAT eco centre near Machynlleth as well as other sites across Wales
Hours:22.5 hrs per week (0.6 FTE)
Working Days:Usually between Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Some weekend and evening working may be required.

This role is funded as part of the Troi’r Llanw / Turning the Tide project, which is funded thanks to the Climate Action Fund, a long-term commitment from The National Lottery Community Fund to support communities across the UK to act on climate change and involve more people in positive environmental action.

ABOUT THE CENTRE FOR ALTERNATIVE TECHNOLOGY

The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) is an internationally renowned environmental charity, a world-leading eco centre, and one of the foremost providers of postgraduate environmental education in the UK, based near Machynlleth in Powys, Mid Wales.

CAT provides inspiration, education and training in solutions to the climate and biodiversity emergency.

Key activities include a visitor centre where people can see solutions in action, residential short courses, vocational training and postgraduate degrees in a wide range of sustainability-related topics, with online courses and events offered alongside in-person learning.

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Troi’r Llanw / Turning The Tide is a three-year, Wales-wide (bilingual) project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, aimed at normalising community-led climate work and responses to climate change and environmental sustainability, ensuring marginalised voices shape environmental decisions, and helping people feel empowered in the face of the climate crisis. The project is led by the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) alongside Cwmpas, Youth Cymru, Mentrau Iaith Cymru, and Ethnic Minorities and Youth Support Team Wales (EYST).

The Trainer Facilitator role is a key part of this project and will support the Project Co Ordinator across all aspects of training for the Troi’r Llanw / Turning The Tide project , and will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of a training programme that builds climate literacy and skills for community-led climate action.

Working as part of the Troi’r Llanw / Turning The Tide project, you will be confident in preparing and developing training material, with delivery remotely, at our CAT site and in other locations across Wales.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Postholder responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Support the Project Co-Ordinator across all training aspects of the project

Plan, develop, prepare and deliver online/virtual and face to face workshops, presentations and training, in line with the guidance of the Project Co-Ordinator

• Attend, support and facilitate project events and workshops

• Undertake all other duties to ensure the efficient and effective running of the training programme

Plan, develop, prepare and deliver Carbon Literacy Project (CLP), Zero Carbon Britain and carbon awareness training, in accordance with the policies and procedures of both CAT and CLP (where applicable)

• Plan for and facilitate peer learning

• Manage and respond to enquiries about training programmes

• Work with the Communications Officer to publicise the project and activities of training programme

Liaise with the Project Co- Ordinator to determine training needs and schedule the training programme

• Maintain a database of all training materials

• Co-produce accessible bilingual training content

• With the Project Co-Ordinator manage enquiries about training programmes

share findings and outcomes from the training with the Communications Officer and Policy, Resource and Research Manager

• Work flexibly including evening and weekend working where required

• Any other appropriate duties as defined by the Project Co – Ordinator or Project Manager

• Ensure compliance with CAT’s policies and procedures including Health & Safety
