About the role
Are you ready to build a career that truly changes lives?
If so, Citizens Advice Darlington, Redcar and Cleveland is offering a life-changing opportunity - for you and those you’ll support.
We’re recruiting a Trainee Finance and Debt Specialist to join our Money Advice Team, based in either Darlington or Redcar. This role is perfect for someone who is ready to learn, grow, and make a lasting difference.
We’ll give you all the training and support needed, having empathy, desire to help others, and motivation to develop into a trusted, skilled advisor.
You’ll be working alongside experienced colleagues, helping clients facing difficult moments in their lives, seeing how this can relieve stress and restore confidence.
As you progress through your training, you’ll learn to:
• Guide clients through financial options
• Provide budgeting and income-maximisation advice
• Support people in crisis with understanding and care
• Help negotiate with creditors
• Work towards becoming a fully accredited Debt Advisor
This is also a regulated role, requirements to follow clear procedures in line with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Code of Conduct. This ensures all advice you give is high quality, ethical, fully compliant and process-driven.
What we’re looking for:
• A desire to make a positive difference
• Strong empathy and communication skills
• Good numeracy, writing, and attention to detail
• The motivation to learn and build your expertise
• Good time management and organisational skills
We are committed to your development and will invest in you through a comprehensive training programme, tailored mentorship, and a clear path to accreditation.
