Salisbury’s Biggest Rugby Themed Fundraising Event!

We are excited to introduce a brand-new event, called The Big Try, focused on camaraderie, laughter, rivalry, and pride as we celebrate the magic of the Six Nations together. The event is also a chance to enjoy the great outdoors and boost mental health. We’re looking for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to help us create an unforgettable day for our participants as they walk the 8-mile route through Salisbury’s beloved landscapes.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Set Up / Registration / Merchandise Team

Time: 07:30–12:30 (5 hours) | Positions available: 12 | Briefing time: 07:30

Help the team set up the event before greeting participants, checking them in, and handing them welcome packs and t-shirts. The role may also include helping us sell merchandise. Your friendly face will help set the tone for a fun and rewarding day.

Route Marshals

Time: 08:30–13:30 (5 hours) | Positions available: 45 | Briefing time: 08:30

Paired with another volunteer, you will ensure participants stay safe and follow the route. You’ll be a key point of contact, offering encouragement and assistance where needed, helping the walkers feel supported throughout.

Hospitality Team – Turn Around / Medals / Merchandise / Clear Down

Time: 12:00–17:00 (5 hours) | Positions available: 8 | Briefing time: 12:00

From midday, we will need a little help setting the room up ready for our walkers to return. Stationed at the finish line, you’ll congratulate participants as they finish the walk, handing out medals and celebrating their achievement. Your energy and enthusiasm will make their accomplishment even more special! We will have our merchandise stall ready and waiting for any other sales. After the last walkers come through the finish line, we will need a little help clearing away.

Evening Cover
Time: 17:00–23:00 (6 hours) | Positions available: 2 | Briefing time: 17:00

During the evening, when the Six Nation Games continue, the fundraising element will draw to an end, but we will need just a little extra pair of hands and a charity presence alongside our staff members.
