Teaching Assistant – Summer Art Mavericks Programme (Freelance)

The Landmark Arts Centre is seeking enthusiastic, creative and energetic Teaching Assistants to support our Summer Art Mavericks programme for children aged 5–11.

Working alongside experienced tutors, you’ll help deliver a vibrant mix of visual arts, healthy cooking and baking, creative games, and physical wellbeing activities. Inspired by famous artists and creative thinkers, children might spend one part of the day creating artworks through drawing, painting, collage or mixed media, and another preparing healthy recipes, taking part in yoga, mindfulness, fitness activities, or collaborative creative challenges.

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll help young people explore their creativity, build confidence, make new friends and develop healthy habits in a fun, supportive and inclusive environment.

Dates: 

Monday 20th – Friday 31st July 2026

Timings:

9:00 – 4:30pm (the programme runs from 10am – 4pm)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support tutors in delivering engaging art, craft, cooking and enrichment activities
  • Assist with preparing materials, equipment and learning spaces
  • Encourage children to participate, experiment and share ideas
  • Provide practical support during creative projects inspired by artists, designers and makers
  • Help supervise games, movement activities and wellbeing sessions
  • Support the safe preparation of simple cooking and baking activities
  • Help create a positive, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all participants
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and organisational procedures at all times

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Enjoy working with children and young people
  • Enthusiasm for creativity, arts, culture or education
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive, proactive and reliable approach
  • Experience in arts education, childcare, youth work, teaching, sports coaching or a related field is desirable

Safeguarding The Landmark Arts Centre is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Successful applicants will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and provide suitable references before commencing work. All staff are expected to comply with the Landmark Arts Centre’s safeguarding policies and procedures.

This freelance, seasonal role is based at the Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington and offers the opportunity to help deliver an inspiring summer of creativity, culture, healthy living and community.
