areas of mathematics to pupils of all ages and abilities. You will be willing to make a full
contribution to the development and growth of mathematics throughout the school,

The Mathematics Department currently offers the Edexcel iGCSE Mathematics qualification
as well as the AQA Level 2 certificate in Further Mathematics for pupils that are passionate
about the subject. At A Level Mathematics is a popular choice and the department offers both
Mathematics and Further Mathematics qualifications.

The department provides pupils with the opportunity to participate in national UK Maths
challenges (UKMT). Pupils can be part of individual challenges, which often result in
qualification for the national Kangaroo round, or team challenges that promote
communication, teamwork, mathematical curiosity and a love of problem solving.

The Mathematics Department is housed in well-equipped classrooms with recently installed
interactive whiteboards. Online support is fundamental to the teaching of mathematics at
Gateways with a range of mathematical software packages and website subscriptions, which
are available both in and out of school to staff and pupils. At lunchtimes, a well established
“Maths Clinic” supports students through challenges in mathematics as required.
