We welcome applications from candidateswith all levels of experience and a specialism in sculpture/ceramics would be beneficial.All teachers are involved in the planning and delivery of lessons that promote strong understanding and alove of subject among our students. Ours is a collaborative school, with colleagues within and acrossdepartments supporting one another in the planning of schemes of work and provision of resources, aswell as the development of teaching and learning. This involvement will be determined inconjunction with your Head of Department, as well as drawing upon any further interests or expertise youmight wish to offer.As a classroom teacher, you will be working with groups across the school, from Years 7 to 13, responsiblefor the progression of students, in line with departmental approaches and in preparation for any publicexaminations. This will include the monitoring of academic progress of students, the provision of regularfeedback, and the refining of approaches in response to student progression where appropriate.All teaching members of staff are also expected to be Form tutors, working closely with students in yourtutor group to monitor their pastoral care and well-being. Forming positive relationships with all studentsis a crucial part of our role, and this is just as important in the classroom as it is in the Form Room.Job Details and RemunerationHours: Full-timeSalary/Scale: from sp pt 5 £34,068 (ECT) to sp pt 17 £53,781 (PL2) Starting salary for new joiner will be on the GDST teacher pay scale and will depend on the experience andqualifications of the successful candidate. It’s a happy, vibrant placewith a buzz of creative energy running through it. A diverse curriculum ensures each student can reach theirpotential; taught disciplines include sculpture and ceramics, printmaking, painting and drawing,photography and digital media.Students are taught in smaller class sizes from Years 7 to 9; this ensures they get 1:1 help from our dedicatedspecialist teachers.GCSE and A Level Fine Art are very popular optional choices where we follow the AQAsyllabus. Photography is taught at AS and A Level where we follow the OCR syllabus and is also extremelypopular. The Art department has an outstanding academic record. Students go on to study Art foundationcourses, and many pursue careers in creative industries including Architecture, Illustration and Animation,Photography and Theatre Design. The department consists of three large, light purpose-built studios, an office, and a storeroom. Resourcesinclude a darkroom, iPad suite, SLR cameras, two kilns, printing facilities, and an extensive library. Ourbudget allows for excellent resources to enable the girls to explore a wide range of traditional and non-traditional materials and techniques. The team is made up of six Art teachers and two part time technicians.We have a rich extra-curricular program that includes Art Club, Paint Pals Charity, ARTiculation, Art Advance,Twilight Art workshops and Sixth form Life Drawing. Regular Art trips to London include visiting the TateModern, Tate Britain, Saatchi and the Frieze Art Fair.Closer to home we have strong links with the Arnolfiniand their education programme and we also work collaboratively with the local community. Students areregularly entered for Art competitions, frequently winning regional and national prizes including SpecialistCraft front cover and ARTiculation. We celebrate the success of our students, showcasing their tremendouswork in the school galleries and at the end of year Art, Photography and Textiles exhibition.This year wehave worked in partnership with the Glastonbury Festival, the BS9 Arts Trail, and visiting artists.Our CurriculumIn Years 7–9, students develop skills and knowledge across all Art disciplines.In Years 10 and 11, students prepare for the AQA Fine Art GCSE.In Years 12–13, students work towards AQA A‑Level Fine Art and OCR AS & A‑Level Photography.
