Job description Job title: Support Worker Responsible to: Options Manager, Aspirations Manager, Supervisors, Tutors Based: Harvey’s Barn, Park End, Swaffham Bulbeck, Cambridge Job Purpose The main purpose of this post is to support those who attend our Options service, a service for clients with learning disabilities, and our Aspirations service, a service for clients with autism. The aim of the Options service is to enable clients to: live a fulfilling life in line with their aspirations and ambitions • • gain maximum benefit from meaningful activities • integrate with their peer group and encourage social inclusion The aim of the Aspirations service is to • provide educational activities for 16-25 year olds with autism • • maintain and enhance independence and life skills improve employability prospects for adults with autism Tasks and responsibilities: 1. Provide support for those who attend the Options Service in a manner that demonstrates the ethos of Red2Green, • Supports clients individually, or in a group setting, to boost their confidence, self-esteem and motivation, encouraging them to make choices and promote their independence • Follows the direction of the Options and Aspirations Managers, to work with clients as required This may involve movement between sites. • Plans and leads engaging and appropriately differentiated group sessions including getting equipment and materials ready as required • Delivers group sessions as per plans, and follows the rota provided by the Options Manager and Aspirations Manager • Supports clients with aspects of their personal care, as required, in a dignified and respectful manner • Keeps their supervisor fully alerted of relevant issues concerning behaviour of clients that occur when attending Red2Green • As a keyworker, completes paperwork, and if necessary, attends client reviews as directed by Supervisors, the Options Manager and the Aspirations Manager. • Plans, monitors, implements, and reviews Individual Learning Plans with clients and their carers, in a timely manner, considering the learner’s individual aspirations and ambitions • Follows the Code of Conduct, Safeguarding and any other policies and procedures relevant to their role 2. Be a proactive team member to ensure the smooth running and operations of the Options and Aspirations Service, and Red2Green • Operates as an active and constructive team member, communicating both internally and externally to a high standard Support Worker Job Description February 2025 Page 1 of 3 • Keeps CharityLog up to date with all phone-calls, e-mails and messages pertinent to a client’s attendance at Red2Green. Logs any Safeguarding and Cause for Concern records, before the end of the working day • Participates in staff training activities, and completing all training and development both mandatory and supplementary as determined by the Options Manager, Aspirations Manager, and the CEO • Takes part, when required, in the minibus driving rota, safely collecting and returning clients to and from their homes • Ensures that medication is administered according to protocol, MAR sheets are filled in, and medication is stored correctly during the working day • Attends and contributes to staff meetings 3. Be an ambassador for the Options and Aspirations Service by nurturing relationships with all external contacts, by communicating in a high quality and efficient manner. • Builds good relationships with clients’ families/carers to make sure that they are involved (as appropriate) in developing clients’ skills and abilities • Always acts professionally, and behaves in a way that reflects Red2Green’s values and culture • Communicates in a professional, clear, and positive way in all external relationships To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
