Tormead School is an academically selective independent school for 800 girls aged 4–18, located a short stroll from the historic town centre of Guildford, just 40 minutes by train to London.
Sport at Tormead continues to thrive across both the Prep and Senior School, with pupils regularly competing in hockey, netball, football and cricket at school, county and regional level. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join us as a Level 4 Sports Coach Apprentice, supported by Aspire Training Solutions (UK). This apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to develop advanced coaching skills, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to the organisation of fixtures and co-curricular activities while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.
As a Sports Coach Apprentice, you will support the delivery of high-quality coaching sessions across a range of sports, encouraging participation, skill development, and enjoyment. You will work closely with experienced coaches to plan and lead activities that promote healthy lifestyles, and positive attitudes towards sport. The role will involve:
- Assisting in the delivery of PE and Games lessons and co-curricular sports clubs
- Supporting students to develop confidence and competence in a variety of sports
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for learning and competition
- Contributing to school sporting events and fixtures, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship
A passion for sport and a genuine interest in teaching and coaching is essential. Candidates should have strong skills, knowledge and experience of playing or coaching of at least one of the School’s core team sports. Candidates will have the ability to work as part of a team to support teachers and have a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week including study time (up to 20% of paid time will be reserved for studying). Working pattern is Monday to Saturday. This is a fixed term contract for two years starting in September 2026.
You will receive excellent school-based mentoring and guidance from experienced teachers and sports staff to develop your coaching and teaching skills. You will also receive 1-to-1 mentorship and ongoing support and guidance from experienced coaches from Aspire Training Solutions (UK) Training Solutions (UK). This structured support ensures you gain valuable experience, recognised qualifications, and the confidence to succeed in sports coaching and education.
