What You’ll Do

Your typical day could start with preparing and delivering engaging lessons to apprentices in the classroom, online or out in the workplace, helping them build practical skills across multi-trade disciplines. You might then be supporting learners 1-2-1, reviewing progress against their individual learning plans, before working on curriculum development or preparing learners for End Point Assessment (EPA).

As a Skills Trainer, you’ll be responsible for designing, delivering and supporting high-quality training that enables apprentices to succeed and progress in their careers. With a strong focus on learner experience, engagement and achievement, you’ll help improve attendance, retention and outcomes, ensuring every learner has the support they need to thrive.

Your role covers teaching, coaching, assessment and curriculum development, alongside working closely with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure outstanding standards of learning and compliance. If you’re driven by making a real difference to people’s careers and communities, we’d love to hear from you.

What We’re Looking For

You’re someone who is passionate about developing others. You’ll enjoy motivating and inspiring learners from a range of backgrounds, using your technical expertise and people skills to bring learning to life. Whether you’re already an experienced trainer or new to teaching, we’ll support your development including funding a Level 5 Learning & Skills Apprenticeship if needed.

To be successful in this role, you’re:

  • Able to teach multi-skills / multi-trades (carpentry, plumbing, plastering, decorating) to Level 2 standard
  • Passionate about supporting learners to achieve and progress
  • A confident communicator, able to engage and motivate different audiences
  • Experienced in delivering high-quality learning in classroom and/or online settings
  • A positive role model, setting high expectations and standards
  • A collaborative team player who builds strong relationships
  • Organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities effectively
  • Committed to continuous professional development, including safeguarding and Prevent

You will have:

  • A teaching qualification or willingness to train through a Level 5 apprenticeship
  • A Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (or willingness to achieve)
  • Experience teaching multi-trades or strong vocational experience
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship standards and learner journeys
  • Strong teaching, coaching and assessment skills (or willingness to develop)
  • The ability to support and guide learners to achieve their goals
  • Excellent communication, IT and organisational skills
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • This role will require an enhanced DBS check.

What We Offer

  • Up to 30 days’ annual holiday, plus bank holidays
  • Two additional paid volunteering days each year
  • Flexible benefits scheme, including family friendly benefits and access to a discount portal
  • 4 x salary life assurance
  • Up to 10% pension contribution
  • Professional development and opportunities to broaden your experience
