Sessional Support Workers

Could you support LIFE?
The LIFE Programme supports young adults aged 16-25 with learning disabilities and additional support needs to build confidence, independence, friendships and self-expression. We are developing a pool of experienced sessional workers who can provide additional cover when our core team is unavailable.
This opportunity could work particularly well alongside a current Advanced Pupil Support Worker, Support Worker, ASN, education, youth work or similar role.
All sessional support staff are self-employed and hours are offered according to programme need. There are no guaranteed hours and associates may accept or decline hours. Successful applicants will require the appropriate PVG Scheme membership and will enter into an associate agreement with The Larder.
What you will do:
Help participants feel safe, welcomed, included and ready to take part.
Support practical, creative, wellbeing and community-based activities.
Adapt communication and encouragement to individual strengths and needs.
Promote choice, dignity, independence, friendships and positive wellbeing..
Follow safeguarding, professional-boundary, risk and recording procedures
Work alongside the LIFE team, follow support plans and share relevant observations.
What are we looking for:
Relevant experience supporting young people or adults in education, support, care, youth work, community or voluntary settings.
A warm, patient, reliable and encouraging approach.
Confidence supporting people with learning disabilities and additional support needs.
Good communication skills and the ability to adapt to individual needs.
Understanding of safeguarding, inclusion and professional boundaries.
Availability for occasional planned cover and, where possible, short-notice cover.
LIFE does not provide personal or intimate care, medication support or transport. A relevant qualification and experience of group activities or community-based support would be welcomed but are not essential.
Livingston at our premises in Bellsquarry and Livingston Village
WHEN
As & when required to cover leave, sickness and staffing gaps.
Hours of delivery will be between Monday - Thursday mainly 9.30am till 3pm
£18 per hour .
