Every year, we support around 125,000 people through nearly 200 services – and it’s all made possible by our 3,500 brilliant staff and volunteers.

Make a real difference in your community

Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier, more independent lives? Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

About The Role

Are you an experienced communications professional and skilled project manager who thrives on helping others succeed? Do you enjoy leading people, building strong relationships, and creating systems that enable high-quality communications across a large and complex charity?

Join us as our Services Communications and Project Manager, where you will play a pivotal role in supporting Waythrough services across the country to do their best work and help more than 130,000 people each year. In this role, you will lead a team of Marketing and Communications Officers, support service mobilisation and development, and drive projects that strengthen communications across our services.

You'll be part of a vibrant and supportive communications team, working alongside communications colleagues across internal communications, external communications, fundraising and public affairs. Together, we share learning, innovation and best practice to maximise our impact.

What you'll do

As a Services Communications and Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead and develop a team of Marketing and Communications Officers, using a coaching approach to help colleagues thrive and grow.
  • Support communications for service mobilisations and new service launches, helping services establish strong local profiles from day one.

  • Work closely with operational and corporate teams to develop and deliver communications approaches that support our Way Ahead strategy.

  • Project manage the production, editing and promotion of

Coming Together, our co-produced external digital magazine.
  • Build and strengthen our Communications Champion network, ensuring services without dedicated communications support can access guidance and good practice.

  • Develop and improve systems for project management, workflow tracking, impact measurement and reporting across the communications function.

About you

To succeed in this exciting role, you'll bring:

  • Proven experience of managing people and developing high-performing teams.

  • Strong project management skills and experience delivering complex projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including copy-editing and producing high-quality communications content.

  • The ability to build and maintain effective relationships across a wide range of teams, functions and external partners.

  • Experience establishing workflow, project tracking and impact measurement systems in busy environments.

Additional information

This role is home-based with occasional travel to London and other locations across the UK, including occasional overnight stays, for service visits, team events and engagement activities.

Join us and help shape the communications that support our services, amplify the voices of the people we work alongside, and enable positive change in communities across the country.
