Brentwood Senior School is an academically selective HMC co-educational independent school with small class sizes and a happy, ambitious and supportive staff team. It is part of Brentwood School, a 3-18 HMC school of 1900 pupils, just 35 minutes from London Liverpool Street.
We are seeking a compassionate, proactive and highly professional School Nurse to join our dedicated pastoral and healthcare team. Working alongside the Senior Nurse, you will provide high-quality nursing care to pupils, deliver first aid and emergency treatment where required, and play a vital role in safeguarding and promoting the health, wellbeing and welfare of all members of our school community. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified nurse who enjoys working with young people and values a collaborative, pupil-centred approach.
The role is based on Thursdays and Fridays, 8.30am–5.00pm (16 hours per week), term time only (35 weeks per year), with one additional out-of-hours duty to provide nursing cover at a school event. Responsibilities include supporting pupils with acute and long-term medical needs, maintaining accurate medical records, contributing to health education initiatives, liaising with parents and healthcare professionals, and working closely with pastoral and boarding staff to ensure pupils receive the highest standard of care.
Applicants must hold a recognised nursing qualification, be registered with the NMC, and demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. Experience working with children and young people, managing long-term conditions such as Type 1 diabetes, and qualifications such as PILS, ILS or ALS would be advantageous. Above all, candidates should be committed to safeguarding, wellbeing and the values of our school community.
