Senior/ Principal Ecologist
At Arcadis, we are committed to attracting, developing and retaining individuals who share our passion for improving quality of life. In return, we offer the opportunity to make a meaningful impact—whether through delivering client work, investing in your own development, championing diversity and inclusion, or getting involved in community and charity initiatives. Our people value different perspectives, care deeply about sustainability, and are motivated to shape a better future.
We are currently hiring Senior and Principal Ecologists nationwide, offering the opportunity to join a well-established and growing team of over 50 ecology professionals. With more than 30 years of experience and over 2,000 projects delivered across the UK and internationally, our team works on a diverse range of schemes including residential developments, major infrastructure projects, rail and highway programmes, and energy networks. Our clients include organisations such as National Grid, Environment Agency, Transport for London, Network Rail, and local authorities across the UK.
As part of our Environmental team, you will play a key role in delivering ecological assessments, biodiversity strategies, Natural Capital projects, and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), supporting sustainable development while protecting and enhancing the natural environment. Our work spans both UK and international projects, including Environmental, Social and Health Impact Assessments, providing you with broad and varied experience.
In these roles, you will take responsibility for leading and managing ecological projects, ensuring delivery to quality, time, and budget requirements while maintaining strong client relationships. You will provide technical leadership, support the development of junior team members, and contribute to the continued growth of the ecology team. There is also a strong emphasis on professional development, with opportunities to work alongside industry-recognised experts who will support your career progression.
Arcadis offers a collaborative, flexible working environment, with clear career pathways and the opportunity to work on high-impact projects that shape sustainable communities. Our work directly contributes to tackling challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and urbanisation, helping to deliver lasting positive outcomes for society and the environment.
If you are a driven ecologist looking to take the next step in your career, we would love to hear from you.
