This role offers a competitive salary, hybrid working (2 days a week in the office), 28 days holiday a year plus Bank Holidays and a fantastic pension scheme offering 6% in year one and 11% after this.
Location: London/Hybrid (minimum two days per week in office Tuesdays and Thursdays)
Salary: £38,000 - £41,000 per annum

About the role
The Senior Press Officer is a key role in the Which? press office. This person must be able to secure outstanding media coverage that maintains and enhances Which?'s reputation as the UK's consumer champion. They must be a self-starter, capable of generating story ideas and proactive pitches, while maintaining and extending Which?'s relationships with key media contacts.
Crucially, this position leads the media coverage strategy for our advocacy work. Therefore, a solid background in public affairs, a keen interest in politics, and the analytical skill to dissect complex policy papers and identify compelling narratives are essential for success.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing ideas and generating positive, regular media coverage with the objective of raising brand awareness and relevance among identified key audiences (consumers, policymakers and businesses)
- Proactive pitching and creative story development, while ensuring high standards of rigour and accuracy across press releases, statements and spokesperson briefings
- Maintaining and extending Which?'s network of contacts across key national, regional and specialist media
- Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders, ensuring a collaborative approach regarding any press-related activities
- Taking part in the duty rota of a busy 24/7 press office, including evening, morning and weekend working
- Helping the Which? press office provide colleagues around the organisation with updates on relevant news in key focus areas.
About you:
- Proven record of securing high-impact, high-volume media coverage in a fast-paced news environment and managing reputational challenges and difficult conversations with journalists
- Background or keen interest in politics and/or public affairs
- Self-starter and record of creative story development as well as ability to distill large complex policy papers into compelling narratives to sell into the media.
- First-class writing skills and record of maintaining the highest standards of rigour and accuracy
- Experience of managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders including policymakers, regulators, government and businesses
- Experience of deploying spokespeople effectively and ensuring they deliver brand and campaign messages to key audiences
