ABOUT UWS3Role summaryThe Senior Philanthropy Manager will lead UWS’ high‑value giving strategy during ahugely exciting phase in the organisation’s growth. Following a record‑breakingfundraising year and the launch of our 2025–2030 Programmes Strategy, UWS isentering a period of unprecedented momentum, innovation, and opportunity.  This role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on relationship fundraising, driving aprogramme designed to inspire transformational giving and long‑term supporterengagement. You will steward and grow a portfolio of major donors, develop compellingphilanthropic products, and deepen UWS’ influence within high‑value networks. A key part of the role is leading and developing the Events & Philanthropy Manager,ensuring our events portfolio delivers exceptional, strategically aligned donorexperiences that strengthen engagement and elevate income. You will work closely withtrustees, senior leaders, and global partners to unlock significant opportunities andshape the next chapter of UWS’ philanthropic success. We are seeking a confident, strategic philanthropy leader capable of cultivatingtransformational relationships and guiding UWS’ high-value programme through its nextstage of significant growth.Key tasks and responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Programme Development Lead the development and delivery of the Philanthropy Strategy to achieve annualincome targets and long‑term growth.  Develop annual budgets, KPIs, and performance frameworks for the philanthropyprogramme. Provide accurate income forecasting and scenario planning to supportorganisational decision‑making. Align high‑value fundraising priorities with organisational strategy and the 2025–2030 Programmes Strategy. Lead the design and refinement of philanthropy products when required. ABOUT THE ROLEDevelop tailored strategies that inspire significant and transformational giving acrossUWS’ global education mission.  Portfolio & Pipeline ManagementOwn and manage a personal portfolio of major donors, cultivating relationships fromprospecting to solicitation and stewardship. (c. £500k–£1m p.a.).  Maintain oversight of the philanthropy pipeline, ensuring robust prospecting,qualification, cultivation, and conversion processes.  Build visionary cases for support in partnership with Programmes and Finance teamsto secure transformational and multi‑year gifts.  Drive peer‑to‑peer fundraising and ambassador‑led approaches in collaboration withsenior stakeholders and trustees. Donor Cultivation, Stewardship & EngagementDeliver tailored stewardship plans to deepen engagement and long‑term value.  Attend high‑value donor events, meetings, and engagement activities as a seniorrepresentative of UWS.  Partner with Communications to produce compelling, mission‑led donor content andupdates. Increase UWS’s visibility within philanthropy networks at sector events, conferences,and peer forums. Events Integration & Line ManagementLine‑manage and support the Events & Philanthropy Manager, ensuring eventsmeaningfully support high‑value cultivation and stewardship.  Oversee strategic event planning, ensuring the annual Gala, donor dinners, andengagement events contribute to pipeline growth and relationship building.  Foster a collaborative culture across the philanthropy and events workflow. Ensure events serve as a strategic cultivation tool, delivering high‑qualityexperiences that deepen engagement and inspire major gifts. 3ABOUT THE ROLEOrganisational Collaboration & RepresentationWork with the Exec Chairman, Exec Director of Fundraising & Communications,Director of Strategic Partnerships, Trustees, and senior colleagues and peernetworks to unlock strategic giving opportunities and expand high‑value influencegroups. Serve as a senior representative for UWS among major donors, networks, andpartners. Promote best practice across the philanthropy function, supporting colleagues tomaximise income across fundraising streams. Compliance, Data & Operational Excellence Ensure compliance with GDPR, fundraising regulations, and internal policies.  Champion the use of HubSpot for pipeline management, insights, and reporting. Demonstrable success in building and managing major donor pipelines anddeveloping strategic cultivation tools.  Experience developing and delivering strategic and operational fundraising plans.  Strong relationship‑building abilities with senior stakeholders, trustees, andhigh‑net‑worth individuals.  Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills. Strong planning, prioritisation, and project management capabilities. Ability to motivate and develop colleagues, with experience in line‑management orcoaching. DesirableExperience working within an international NGO or global development context.  Experience supporting or managing high‑value development boards or fundraisingcommittees.
