Hartford, Cheshire

Hartford is a village in Cheshire West and Chester, 2 miles to the south west of the town of Northwich and surrounded by Weaverham to the north, Kingsmead and Davenham to the east, Whitegate and Marton to the south and Cuddington to the west.

The village was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, when the Manor was held by Gilbert de Venables as part of the Barony of Kinderton. In 1644 during the English Civil War a battle was fought at Hartford Green when Royalists from Chester encountered the Parliamentary forces from Northwich.

Hartford has a number of Grade II listed buildings including Hartford Hall Hotel which dates from the 16th century and Vale Royal Railway Viaduct, built in 1837. There are also a number of local shops including a hairdressers, dry cleaners, florist, a cafe and a butcher. The village is also home to Hartford Tennis Club, Hartford Cricket Club, a bowling club, and a golf course with a driving range.

The A556 bypasses the village as part of the Northwich bypass and the bridge that carries the road over the River Weaver is known as Hartford Bridge or Blue Bridge, and was built in 1938.

Hartford is served by Hartford railway station on the West Coast Main Line between Liverpool and Crewe and by Greenbank railway station on the Mid- Cheshire Line between Chester and Manchester Piccadilly.

School Minibus Driver (Great Sankey/Warrington to Hartford) The Opportunity

Salary: £16.00 per hour

Reports to: Finance Assistant

Working hours: 25 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 6.30am – 9.00am & 3:00pm – 5:30pm (approximate hours), term time only, plus potentially additional hours available during the day.

We are seeking to recruit a careful reliable School Minibus Driver to work on a fixed term contract from 3rd September 2026 - 9th July 2027.

The successful candidate will be able to relate to children and parents in a professional manner.

Possess excellent driving skills, reliable, punctual, well presented, local knowledge/route planning skills, customer service skills, flexible and a good team player and works well on their own.

The ideal candidate must have a clean driving licence with D1 or PSV entitlement.

The working hours are from 6.30am to 9.00am and from 3:00pm to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only. However, there may be occasions due to traffic that this may vary. In addition, on some days of the year the driver will be requested to adjust the hours slightly to accommodate a change in school day.

The hourly rate of pay is currently £16.00 per hour for 25 hours per week over 36 weeks of the year but split over 12 months to provide a regular monthly salary.

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Duties:

Perform minibus checks twice a day before journey

Use web based application to moniter passengers (training provided)

Complete the route twice a day in accordance with the Bus Driver Procedures

Branded uniform will be provided
