The Health Economics Research Unit (HERU) is one of Europe’s leading centres for health economics and is located within the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences & Nutrition at the University of Aberdeen.
Job Description
We are a leading health economics research centre, with a reputation for delivering applied and methodological work of the highest quality across a broad range of policy-relevant fields including technology assessment, workforce, person-centred care and public health.
We are recognised for our world-leading research by the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021). HERU contributed to the University of Aberdeen's UoA2 (Public Health, Health Services and Primary Care Unit of Assessment) submission, with 95% of our activity being rated as internationally-excellent or world-leading. This placed us 8th out of 32 institutions in the UK, and top in Scotland. These results highlight HERU’s position as a leading health economics research centre, with a reputation for delivering applied and methodological work that is nationally and internationally significant.
The postholder will be based in HERU but also be a member of the REAL Supply Research Unit. Funded by the Health Foundation, The REAL Supply Research Unit is an exciting collaboration led by the Centre of Health Economics (CHE) at the University of York, along with HERU at the University of Aberdeen and the Care and Outcomes Research Centre (COReC) at the University of Kent (formerly PSSRU) and SPRE. It’s mission is to support better long-term decision-making in health and social care (see REAL Supply).
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale, £38,784 to £46,049 per annum, pro rata negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.

Prior to employment, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK.
