JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

 

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a mature, modest male living in the Heath area of Cardiff, I live with my wife who is a big support to me.

I have a diagnosis of Parkinsons and require a personal assistant to support me with daily aspects of my life.

I speak English and Urdu and enjoy low intensity exercise, wood carving and gardening. I use a walker and have use of an electric wheelchair.

PURPOSE OF JOB

To maintain personal hygiene.

To always keep me safe.

To support me to access the community.

PLACE OF WORK

In my home and out in the community.

HOURS OF WORK

31 hours and 15 minutes available each week consisting of –

Morning call 45 minutes

Lunch call 45 minutes 3 times a week on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Evening call 45 minutes

Bedtime call 30 minutes

Social/Community support

Monday 2 hours 1pm – 3pm

Tuesday 3 hours 12.30pm to 3.30pm

Wednesday 3 hours 12pm to 3pm

Friday 7 hours 9am to 4pm

RATE OF PAY

 

£15.70 per hour.

 

TASKS INVOLVED

 

  • To provide companionship.
  • To assist me to access the community.
  • To support and assist with personal care tasks.
  • Tidy up spaces after being used.
  • Prompting medication – training may be required.
  • Other training may be required.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

 

  • Someone who is friendly.
  • Someone who is patient.
  • Someone who is trustworthy.
  • Someone who is polite.
  • Car driver and owner essential.
  • Urdu speaking preferably.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A probation period will be necessary in the first instance.  Wages will be paid 4 weekly.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you. Support cannot be carried out in the personal assistant’s own home.
