A Little About Me

I am a lady in my late 60s living in the Barry area. I have a cognitive impairment/learning disability and use a wheelchair due to a risk of falls.

I enjoy attending my Tuesday club, which includes Bingo, as well as making bracelets and decorating cakes. I currently receive support from an agency four times a day. This role is specifically to provide additional support with social activities, companionship and attending appointments when required.

Purpose of the Role

I am looking for a kind, patient and reliable Personal Assistant to support me with attending social clubs and, when necessary, hospital appointments.

The successful applicant will help me to remain socially active, enjoy activities within my local community and feel safe and supported when out and about.

Hours of Work

  • Thursday: 2.5 hours, from 11:45am to 2:15pm, to support me to attend the lunchtime club at Golau Caredig, which starts at 12:00pm.
  • Friday: 2.5 hours, from 1:45pm to 4:15pm, to support me to attend the Bingo/social club, which starts at 2:00pm.

Rate of Pay

  • Have a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Be respectful of my choices, preferences and independence.
  • Be able to provide consistent and dependable support.
  • Be a driver with business-class insurance, as driving may be required for hospital appointments.

About the job

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
