A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 21-year-old man from Dinas Powys. I am autistic, have learning difficulties and am non-verbal. I am seeking a caring, reliable and trustworthy Personal Assistant to support me during the day, three days a week, while my mother is at work. You will either stay with me at home, providing companionship and keeping me safe, or support me to access the local community and take part in activities. As I need continuous one-to-one support, your main responsibility will be to ensure I feel safe, comfortable and supported throughout our time together.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

  • Keeping me safe and always providing one-to-one support
  • Providing companionship and helping me to have an enjoyable day
  • Understanding and responding to my individual needs
  • Making sure I have access to drinks and snacks when needed
  • Supporting me to access the community and take part in activities
  • Staying with me at home when required
  • Using your initiative to recognize when I may need support
  • Helping to maintain a safe and comfortable environment

HOURS OF WORK

 

  • 16 hours per week
  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays
  • Daytime hours
  • Start and finish times are negotiable

 

RATES OF PAY

  • £16.00 per hour
  • 40p per mile for mileage when using your own car for work-related journeys.

  • Caring, patient and trustworthy
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Proactive and able to use their own initiative
  • Understanding of autism and learning difficulties
  • Experienced in supporting individuals on the autistic spectrum
  • A confident communicator who can understand and respond to my needs
  • A car driver with business-class insurance
  • Willing to undergo a full DBS check
  • Comfortable around dogs, as I have a sausage dog at home.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).

The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK
