Overview:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Families in Mind team, supporting the mental health and wellbeing of parents and carers of young children across Worthing, Adur and Arun.

We are looking for someone with lived experience of caring for children while managing their own mental health challenges. This may include experience of postnatal mental health difficulties, accessing mental health services, or navigating your own recovery journey. Your insight, empathy, and understanding will help other parents feel heard, supported, and less alone.

About the Role

As a Peer Support Worker, you will play a key role in creating safe, supportive spaces where parents and carers can build confidence, resilience and connection.

You will:

  • Support the delivery of structured group sessions (face-to-face and online) focused on mental health and wellbeing
  • Encourage and facilitate meaningful peer support
  • Empower parents and carers to identify and work towards their personal goals
  • Contribute positively as an active and valued member of the wider team

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is confident sharing appropriate aspects of their lived experience to support others
  • Believes in the value of peer support and recovery-focused approaches
  • Has strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Is compassionate, reliable and able to work collaboratively

Working Pattern

Groups currently run across Worthing and Adur between Tuesday and Thursday. The role is primarily delivered during school hours; however, we welcome flexibility in working patterns, including occasional weekend work to support families in accessing community events.
