About the role

Supported Accommodation Services in Lancashire

Barnardo's provides supported accommodation to young people aged 16-24 across a number of sites in Lancashire. The service aims to provide young people with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for independent living. The young people who live in our accommodation are from a range of backgrounds and are often either in the process of Leaving Care or have experienced homelessness. The services are staffed 24 hours per day by a dedicated team. Young people can live within our accommodation for up to 2 years so that they can move on successfully to their own accommodation in a planned and coordinated way.

2a High Street – this service is based in the centre of Lancaster and provides accommodation and support for 7 young people at any one time.  

Mariner's View – this service is based in the centre of Lancaster and is comprised of 11 self-contained flats, supporting 11 young people at any one time.

Working Hours

The successful candidate will work nights, usually on a “4-on 4-off” basis, though some flexibility is required. The service operates 7 days per week and 365 days per year.

The Night Project Workers at this service usually work 21:30 – 08:30.

Specific Responsibilities

Our Night Project Workers perform a critical role within our services and are a vital part of the team. To be successful in this role you will need to have a range of skills and abilities, and most importantly you will need to enjoy the challenges and rewards of working with young people. The successful candidate will have a planned induction and will participate in training including Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Safeguarding, Emergency First Aid, Risk Assessment, Health & Safety. There are always opportunities to develop your skills and get involved with different activities within the service. The successful candidate will be required to attend and participate in monthly supervision meetings with their line manager, an annual Performance & Growth Review and will be fully involved in Team Meetings.
