About the role
Neurodivergence Learning Specialist & Teacher of English
Neurodivergence Learning Specialist & Teacher of English
Senior School (13–18) | Full Time | From January 2027
The Appointment
For January 2027, Cheltenham College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher to join our Learning Support Department as a Neurodivergence Learning Specialist.
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified English teacher with secondary classroom experience who is looking to develop their expertise in supporting and assessing pupils with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) and other forms of neurodivergence.
Working alongside the SENCO and an experienced Learning Support team, the successful candidate will provide individual and small-group support designed to strengthen pupils’ literacy, study skills and, in particular, the executive-function skills that underpin successful independent learning.
The role will have a particular focus on driving positive outcomes for pupils in our community for whom literacy and numeracy present significant challenges. Through thoughtful assessment, targeted intervention and strong relationships, you will help pupils to understand how they learn, develop greater confidence and become increasingly independent.
We are looking for someone who combines excellent teaching skills with empathy, curiosity and a genuine commitment to enabling neurodivergent young people to thrive. IT literacy and flexibility are essential, as is a Level 7 assessment qualification. Candidates who are close to completing their Level 7 qualification are warmly encouraged to apply.
Full details of the role can be found in the job description below.
