Salary£40.03 per hour, plus additional payments for report writing,parent review days and staff training.
ContractOne-term probationary period followed by a permanentcontract.
Reporting ToDirector of Dance Training
Working Closely WithArtistic Director, Director of Dance Training, Head ofContemporary, Jazz and Related Dance Styles, Artistic Staff ,Boarding Team and Health & Wellbeing Team.
Hours3 hours per week on Thursdays (term-time only). Majority ofhours to be worked within school hours (2.30 pm-5.30 pm),with flexibility required for events.

Purpose of the Job:

• To impart a solid knowledge of Jazz technique and performance to students.

• To nurture each student to maximise their dance potential.

• To keep abreast of educational and dance related developments.

• To support colleagues and work whole-heartedly for the good of the school.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Principally, the preparation and teaching of classes to female and male students aged 11 to 15.

  2. The weekly planning and recording of each class with reflections on possible improvements in methodology. To educate and make students aware of the history, development of the genre and deliver breadth of styles.

  3. To monitor students’ progress and feedback positively and effectively through the following: -

o Student self-assessment and tutorials.

o The writing of reports Autumn and Summer Terms, as required by the Director of Dance Training.

o Verbal feedback to parents throughout the year as directed by the Director of Dance Training.

  1. To be aware of students’ emotional needs, giving constructive feedback, encouragement and confidence.

  2. Choreographic duties to include choreographing performances as

  3. Supervise rehearsals where and when necessary.

  4. Ensure any risk to dancers’ health and safety during class, rehearsals and performance is minimised.

  5. Chaperoning students on off-site vocational visits when necessary.

  6. Keep clear administrative records and completing any required

  7. Attending staff meetings and INSET sessions as required.

  8. Work collaboratively with colleagues from all faculties to meet the needs of all students.

  9. To be prepared to undertake such other tasks as directed by the Director of Dance Training or Principal may reasonably deem necessary.
