About the role
As IT and Print Services Technician, you will support the smooth operation of IT services and Print Services across the Foundation. The role combines first-line IT support responsibilities with operational ownership of the school’s printing, photocopying and stationery services. The successful candidate will support staff and pupils with day-to-day IT issues while also managing printer consumables, reprographics workflows, stationery ordering and supplier coordination.

Key responsibilities
IT Support
• Provide first-line IT support to staff and pupils across the Foundation
• Troubleshoot hardware, software and connectivity issues
• Support Windows devices, Microsoft 365 services and classroom technology
• Assist with the setup, deployment and maintenance of laptops, desktops and mobile devices
Support printers, photocopiers and print management systems
• Assist with user account administration and password resets
• Escalate complex technical issues appropriately within the IT Services Team
• Assist with maintaining accurate IT asset records and inventories
Support IT projects and system rollouts where required
• Provide support for school events and presentations requiring IT equipment, including Theatre equipment
Deliver friendly and professional customer service at all times
Print and Stationery Services
• Manage the day-to-day operation of the school’s reprographics and printing services
Manage stationery orders and liaise with suppliers to ensure good stock levels maintained
Operate and support the school’s online print request portal
• Produce high-quality printed materials for academic and operational use
• Troubleshoot printer and photocopier issues before escalating to suppliers
Liaise with external support providers and supervise engineer visits onsite
• Monitor printer performance and report recurring faults or trends
Ensure printers and photocopiers remain stocked with paper and toner
Manage paper, toner and stationery stock levels across the Foundation
• Order stationery, paper and print consumables in line with budgets and procurement procedures
• Seek value for money and assist in monitoring reprographics and stationery costs
• Help identify opportunities for efficiencies and cost savings within printing services
No job description can fully cover all aspects of the role and consequently the responsibilities are likely to evolve and change over time.
Skills, qualifications and experience
You will have strong customer service and interpersonal skills, coupled with a friendly, positive and proactive attitude. You will possess a good understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems, alongside a basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications and services, as well as networking and wireless technologies. You will demonstrate good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise your workload effectively and work both independently and as part of a team. Confidence in using printers, photocopiers and general office technology is essential, along with strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. You will also show an awareness of cost control and the importance of achieving value-for-money.
Ideally, you will have previous IT support experience, with experience working in a school or education environment being advantageous. You will have experience supporting managed print environments, alongside knowledge of print management systems and experience managing stationery or consumable ordering. A working knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, as well as mobile device management systems, would be beneficial. You will also have an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within an education setting, and hold relevant IT qualifications or certifications.
Child protection
It is your responsibility to help promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible, or with whom you come into contact, and to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Child Protection Policy Statement at all times. If, in the course of carrying out the duties of the post, you become aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school, you must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead. Protecting children from the risk of radicalisation is part of the School’s safeguarding duties (under the Prevent Duty).

Terms and conditions
This is a full-time role, all year round, working 37 hours a week: 8.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 8.00am to 3.30pm on Friday.
The salary for this role is £25,948.26 per annum.
