Job Title: Human Resources (HR) Officer

Reports To: CEO

Contract Type: Permanent, part time, 52 week contract

Working Hours: To be agreed. Largely anticipated to be a hybrid role working mostly from home

Salary: Commensurate with experience

CONTEXT: The Toby Henderson Trust is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee who provide a range of support services to children, young people and adults with autism or a suspected diagnosis of autism. We also offer private autism assessments for children, young people and adults and are commissioned by ICBs in a number of North East localities and the Cumbria, Northumberland Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW) to undertake such.

Job Purpose:

To lead on the delivery of a comprehensive HR service across the organisation, supporting the full employee life cycle, ensuring legal compliance and facilitating a positive, well supported and effective workplace environment.

Job Description Responsibilities and Duties

Oversight of HR best practice and employment law, ensuring compliance with GDPR and employment legislation.

• Taking the Lead for employee relations matters including disciplinaries, grievances, absence, capability and conflict resolution.

• Develop and review all HR policies and procedures aligned to legal requirements and the values and ethos of TTHT

• Provide HR advice to Leadership on all areas of the employee life cycle.

• Management of all employee relations issues including investigation, consultation and disciplinary action (where necessary) as per company procedures.

• Support recruitment, onboarding, induction, probation and performance processes.

Work proactively with Leadership in respect of wellbeing, flexible working and occupational health referrals.

• Processing of DBS and renewal of checks.

• Liaise with finance/payroll to ensure accurate process of payroll and expenses.

• Managing and updating confidential personnel files.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Education:

Educated to degree level (no specific discipline) or equivalent in-depth experience of working within an HR/Personnel role.

Essential experience:

Sound knowledge of the HR framework covering all aspects of the employment life cycle.

• Exceptionally high standards of confidentiality and diplomacy.

• Experience of payroll preparation and liaison with Accountants as external payroll providers.

• Experience of playing an active role in investigations regarding capability and grievance.

Experience of working closely with Line Mangers and Leadership to support the wellbeing and Occupational Health/physical needs of workforce.

• HR Diploma standard of education
