Location: The Prince of Wales Hospice, Pontefract, WF8 4BG
Hours: Average of 19.2 hours per week, as follows:
16 hours per week (4 sessions)
Requirement to work 1 in 5 weekends (calculates as an average 3.2 hours a week)
Requirement to cover 1 night on call per week plus on call relating to your 1 in 5 weekend cover (paid as additional on call allowance)
Salary: £47,443 - £82,750 per annum (FTE) plus additional night on call allowance of £7,723 per annum.
Actual pay: £22,773 - £39,720 per annum plus on call allowance of £7,723 per annum.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Hospice Specialty Doctor to join our compassionate and skilled medical team at The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract. This part-time role includes a non-resident on-call commitment and offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and development.

About the Role
As a Hospice Specialty Doctor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring patients with life-limiting illnesses receive the highest standards of specialist palliative care. Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering expert clinical care to inpatients.
- Working closely with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team to support patients and their families.
- Contributing to the education and development of local GP Trainees and medical students, enhanc-ing their understanding of palliative care.
- Gaining valuable experience in a setting that encourages professional development and career progression.
About the Hospice
Situated just minutes from Junction 32 of the M62, The Prince of Wales Hospice serves a population of 185,000 in East Wakefield. Our facilities include:
- A 14-bed inpatient unit, designed to the highest standards to provide comfort and dignity.
- A comprehensive wellbeing service for patients and families.
- The district’s only specialist Lymphoedema service.
- Dedicated counselling, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy support.
Collaborative & Strategic Partnerships
We work closely with West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, Wakefield District Health & Care Partnership, Wakefield Hospice, and other key partners to deliver high-quality, integrated palliative care. - full GMC registration
- a minimum of 2 years clinical experience in relevant specialties
- an interest in palliative medicine

A postgraduate qualification and previous relevant experience are desirable.
