About the role
FREELANCE ARCHIVE ASSISTANT
Working in collaboration with the Head of Archive and wider project team, the successful freelancer will help prepare collections for digital access, improve catalogue information, support rights and consent management, and contribute to oral history, volunteer and digital engagement activity.
This is a practical, collections focused commission requiring a high level of accuracy, organisation and sensitivity to the ethical responsibilities involved in making archive material available online.
The commission will be delivered across four days per week, including agreed study and development days, and will contribute to the delivery of the project’s key outputs and National Lottery Heritage Fund milestones.
Conditions for Employment
Fee per day: £130
Duration: 2 year freelance agreement
Start Date: November 2026
