Job Description Caseworker – Mentor Supervisor New Leaf Young People Mentoring Project Salary: £30,000 FTE (£28,000 trainee) Location: Thames Valley with ability to travel Hours: 22.5 (3 days) a week Contract: Permanent Hope After Harm is an established, registered charity, delivering a range of support services to those who are vulnerable or at risk of exclusion. We work to develop long-term solutions to the issues of crime and social exclusion. We aim to influence policy and share good practice at a practical and strategic level. We have a proven track record of service delivery across Thames Valley and beyond, supporting those whose lives are impacted by crime: victims of crime, offenders and their families. This three-year project, funded through the Big Lottery, aims to improve life chances, personal resilience and wellbeing of young people who are at risk of getting involved in the criminal justice system through mentoring support delivered by Volunteer Mentors. The project also includes a restorative justice element and delivers RJ Interventions in a school setting. We are looking for a case worker who has previous experience of working with young people to achieve their goals as well as managing volunteers. The post holder will provide initial mentoring support to young people then matching them with a volunteer mentor. Key to the role is providing supervision and support to the volunteer mentors as well as knowledge of restorative justice and an ability to promote the service with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring the case management system, ensuring prompt and efficient transfer of information, keeping good lines of communication open and ensuring the efficient working and throughput of cases. You will be handling sensitive and personal information on the clients we support, therefore ensuring confidentiality and security of information at all times is paramount. Role: Manage referrals to the project by liaising with referrer and meet with young people so as to introduce the service and carry out needs assessments using the Outcome Star tool. Provide mentoring support to young people for up to 12 weeks so as to develop an individual action plan before transitioning to volunteer support Introduce / match the Volunteer Mentor to the young person based on client needs Manage, support and supervise all volunteer mentors through six weekly supervision meetings ensuring compliance with policy and procedures as well as assist them in case management. Carry out regular reviews of Mentor: Mentee relationship and action plans. Assist in recruitment and training of volunteer mentors Actively promote the project with potential referrers to increase understanding of the benefits of mentoring support. Actively promote the project with the local business community so as to recruit mentor’s support. Work collaboratively with the other Projects. Support delivery of a robust and consistent volunteer recruitment procedure. Training: ensuring all volunteers are kept up to date with training elements such as Safeguarding and GDPR. Personal Specification Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Essential Strong interpersonal skills to deal with a diverse range of people. An understanding of GDPR and ability to handle confidential matters. Excellent organisational skills and time management. Case worker experience including completing needs assessments, carrying out risk assessments and developing action plans Experience of managing staff or volunteers Knowledge of Restorative Justice. IT Knowledge, Microsoft Professional and ability to use case management systems Own Vehicle and the ability to travel locally. The capacity to motivate and inspire others. Passion for the delivery of excellent service. Maintain Databases and handle all administration duties. Team Player Desirable Restorative Justice Practitioner For this role, you will also need: The ability to travel within Thames Valley and occasionally outside of. To be free from any criminal conviction which would conflict with the responsibilities of the post; you will be required to have a DBS Enhanced disclosure or a portable DBS To be able to deal with all information on a confidential basis and understand data protection requirements.
