Overview We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Specialist Nurse. We are seeking an individual who will offer a specialist service, provide continuity of care to the residents of The Meath Epilepsy Charity, as well as develop the staff team’s knowledge of learning disabilities and epilepsy. Job Purpose We believe in providing outstanding care to our residents. Our ambition is to become an outstanding epilepsy specialist provider by offering exceptional clinical expertise and the highest quality of care and support within agreed protocols and allocated resources. Key Responsibilities Include: • Work within a team; alongside our administrative epilepsy care coordinator and Health and wellbeing • • team, registered care managers. To develop clinical leadership within the team. To deliver best practice in the clinical management of epilepsy and co-existing health conditions of people we support here at the Meath. • Nurse Triage, Epilepsy care planning, emergency seizure protocols, review of SUDEP assessment and caregiver competencies for emergency medication. MDT clinics. • Running nurse clinics, and support visiting specialists in Epilepsy. • To develop the service and themselves in the field of epilepsy care. • To update epilepsy clinical knowledge and CPD. To join Epilepsy nurse Association (ESNA) and attending relevant educational events, with the view of then providing verbal/written feedback to enhance all staff knowledge. To align with auditing and governance, and research. • Drive quality improvement across our residential and supported living services • • Other duties aligned to this post at the request of their line manager/CEO. • To provide a strong presence onsite, for a minimum of 4 days per week. • Comply with the NMC Code: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses. Essential Qualities: • NMC-registered nurse with minimum 4 years post registration. • Skilled in-patient centred care within the fields of Epilepsy, Learning disability and or neurological rehabilitation. • Skilled in safeguarding, risk assessment, and care planning • Strong leadership skills, a non-judgemental approach, excellent communication, and can show initiative across all aspects of their work.
